Plaxico Burress Pleads Guilty, Agrees to 2 Year Prison Term NEW YORK (AP/1010 WINS) -- Ex-Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress pleaded guilty today to attempted criminal possession of a weapon and was sentenced to two years in prison for accidentally shooting himself at a Manhattan nightclub in November, 1010 WINS' Juliet Papa reports. Photo Gallery: Giants Training Camp The ex-wide receiver was indicted earlier this month on two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of reckless endangerment. He faced a minimum prison sentence of 3 1/2 years. Burress was at the Latin Quarter nightclub on Nov. 29 when an unlicensed gun tucked into his waistband slipped down his leg and fired, shooting him in the right thigh. The Giants released Burress in April and he has not signed with another team.
So much for all of the people claiming that he would somehow get out of this. This is what happens when you commit a clearly defined, very specific, impossible to dispute felony. I guess the 8-game suspension isn't too much of an issue anymore.
I'm just confused how Stallworth runs over someone while drunk and gets 1 month and Plax gets this. Unreal.
NOBODY, except him, gets that sentance for a first time offense. He's being made into a poster child.
The DA must have been a Redskins fan... All Plax had to say was... "Spare me jail time and I promise I will sign with Washington" BAAM
He had a 3 month prison term offered to him as a plea bargain a few months ago. He refused, wanted to go to court, and the DA made an example out of him. Tough shit.
nobody gets into clubs VIP for free blowjobs and woman all over him and free booze b/c he Plax. so he gets to be made example of . fuck him
I don't recall reading anywhere that he was offered a term even close to 3 months. Where did you get that from?
Do you know the figures for the percentage of people who are caught with an unregistered gun that they fired accidentally in a crowded place in NYC who go to jail? Unless you do, you don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about. Just because you don't like NYC gun laws doesn't mean that they are not enforced. Even his lawyer knew that his only chance was to not get indicted, which is why he took the extremely rare approach of having him testify in the front of the grand jury; once he was indicted it was an open and shut case.
Probation is the standard punishment for this type of situation. On a few occasions, a month in jail. Looking for a reference for you. A good lawyer will know you?re a target when the MAYOR is calling you out.
Good to see that he will serve time for the flagrant violation of the law and reckless threat to those around him.
