he's going to get hit, and he'll see more than one series.

    let's see how he responds.

the leg up is that they will send vanilla ravens blitz packages at sanchez, and it he should be schooled on it well considering who the Jets new HC is.

He may not want to let it go to his head though..from today's practice..

"Following his sharp performance in Friday's game, QB Mark Sanchez has gone 2-11 with the first unit today. QB Kellen Clemens went 7-12."

Why? They want to get a sense of how each QB does starting the game before making a decision on Game 3. If Sanchez can come in and repeat a measure of his success from the Rams game, he'll get the nod for the Giants and, likely, the season. If the roles and performances are both swapped against the Ravens, Ryan's got a tough decision ahead of him.

Yup. Some people seem to be misunderstanding Sanchez being named the starter for week 2 of PS. This is all part of the competition and Ryan hasn't made his decision yet. He can certainly lock it up this week though.

I have a feeling this was the plan the whole time unless somoen was coming out of Camp clearly the better option. Throwing him into the wolves with that Ravens D though.

This is great. I want to see what he can do with a patchwork line against the Ravens D. Will he panic and screw up or do ok?

I fully expect him to not do that well. Not because I want him to fail or any stupid thing like that but because he is going to face one of the best D's in the NFL with a patchwork line.

If he does better than ok, if I am Ryan he has the job. That is a gigantic if though. We shall see...............

the ravens new d-coordinator has already said they wont be as exotic this year with their packages and blitzes. this is also the preseason so i doubt sanchez will be seeing anything that he hasn't already seen many times in practice. as far as not having the line healthy i think this is a good thing. it is very rare for a team to be at full strength he is going to need to play with what is available.

This will be a good test for him. Ravens shut out Skins game 1, so they still look like a top D.

If the Jets had a legit vet, they would have sat Sanchez. But the Jets have no QB besides Sanchez, and Ainge is way too raw now.

The only reason why there was a "competition" is out of respect to Clemens. Personally, I don't think he deserved it, because in my world, in order to get respect you give it.

Clemens, prior to the pre-season disrespected Ratliff by proclaiming himself the Jets' #1 QB. This, when he had never done anything as an NFL player. Anyway, Mangini knew which one was better, as he demanded Ratliff in the Sanchez trade.

I can't wait to see Clemens' face, when Rex names Sanchez the starting QB for the season. And who knows, maybe by the end of the pre-season, he'll be sittin' pretty as the third string under Ainge.

Rex got rid of Pizzotti to give Ainge more attention. Hopefully Rex will allow Ainge to split time with the second unit. :p

    really?

Clemens gets the competition because he's been in the system for 4 years. There is a college QB with 16 starts at the NCAA level coming in and no coach in hell would hand him the reigns to a franchise immediately.

Disrespected Ratliff? How? A pre-season wonder gets dissed by a 2nd round pick who was expected to become something for this team? That doesn't make sense.

i think clemens sees the writing on the wall. The Kid leads the team down almost the entire field to a TD score on his 1st series ever while Clemens turned it over because he can't feel the rush coming.

Ainge needs to do a lot to become the 2nd string QB... and Clemens needs to fail immensely.

How do you know Mangini demanded Ratliff? Maybe the Jets didn't want to deal Clemens because he was the only QB on the Jets with any NFL experience. The Jets surely would have felt much more comfortable with Clemens starting this season than Ratliff if Sanchez wasn't ready to start

If I was you I wouldn't even dignify a response. Disrespected Ratliff is about the most idiotic statement you could ever hear at this place short of a troll post from Raiderjoe.

Ratliff's great pre-season is more than Clemens ever accomplished in the NFL, where he mournfully was rated the worst QB in the league. Ratliff is a stand-up guy, who has throughout his life played above expectations. To me, he deserves more respect than the 'failed experiment' Clemens gave him.

You're right, Ainge does need to do a lot. He needs to duplicate what he did in the last game a few times. And Clemens, expect him to turn over the ball and fail as he always does.
