They can't sell out 2009 because the "fans" who really did not want to be there have bailed . Sure there are probably a few who can't afford it anymore or those who are extremely pissed at the Jets for PSL's , but bottom line casual fans , Giant fans , ticket brokers have dropped in droves because there's no resale market "now" , plus those folks have no intention of going in 2010 so what incentive did they have for this season .

I'm not saying PSL's are an investment that will ever show a profit , but to bindly state now that there will be no reasle market come 2011 , 2012 - 2020 is premature . There are other factors ( state of economy, Jets team quality) to consider when making this statement. Just because there's outcry now doesn't mean it will stay that way. I know for a fact there was tremendous outcry when the Jets moved to NJ, there was lots of talk that the Jet fan base was NY/LI and the Jets would not sell out the Meadowlands . Well there was plenty of fan turnover - but guess what the Meadowlnds sold out and it will again . Sure these next two years will see lots of turmoil , but eventually this place will be sold out just like the past.

I agree. I think it will sell out eventually, but I also think the higher prices (they're much higher with the PSLs factored in) will cause a lot of turnover or "churning."

What I'm saying is, if you really want and must have a couple of PSL seats, there's no panic right now to run out and do that. In fact, the seating choices will get worse (last rows of certain sections which are still priced the same as first rows, for example).

They will be sold out but there will also be plenty of PSLs on the market come 18 months from now. How many there will be will be determined by the economy at that time and how well (or poorly) the product is on the field.

I just received a email from the Jets about the 09 season.

If you buy now you don't have to buy the pre-season tix.

I think that's BS, who the hell is going to the pre-season games???

I never go, next year I'll go but that's about it. Who wants to watch guys that will end up bagging groceries play football?

My tickets for tonight are completely going to waste. And the Philly game will probably be the same way. Been like that for a long time... I take a bath every year on the Preseasons... close to $500 a pop I paid for them... $1,000 down the drain.

PSL purchasers - welcome to the club.

Isn't BS though for people with no seniority get to buy season tix without having to buy those games. It's BS. I would've loved for the past 20 years not to have to buy those shit games.

I called and complained but she calmed me down very well.

I am SOOOOOO glad I did not buy the PSLs. Seriously, with what's been going on now, I'd have serious doubts as to what the future holds if I stuck myself with 4 of those things. This has been the icing on the cake and the final straw for me. I can just imagine how Woody is going to pork those poor people. It would make me feel very uncomfortable if not downright vulnerable. And I'd feel like I had been taken but good.

Fuck me once, shame on you. Fuck me twice, shame on me.

And you didn't even need toilet paper. Speaking of which, I don't want you to use any toilet paper tonight either. Just make your way to Woody's personal box, find out where the bar will be installed, and find a way to let it go inside the sheetrock wall.

Same here. I work tonight--sold two tickets and the parking pass to a friend of mine for the price of one ticket, $80. He likes to bring his kid to a pre-season game and wanted to pay me something, so I thought that was right. Struggling to give away the Eagles game, I can't make that one either.

I was going to head down tonight with three friends. AS the week pressed on and the weather for this weekend was going to be spectacular, people bailed one at a time to go to the lake or this or that. As of 2pm today, the final guy bailed. So I gave four tickets away to a friend for free. $320 circling the drain.

THANKS WOODY!!!! DIDN'T NEED THAT MONEY ANYWAY YOU FUCKING HOMO!

I'm sure there will be good sections in the uppers, but the lowers will be an abomination. And the Mezz.

I also wonder what the upper endzone will be like...it will probably be transient drunks there....different ones each week.

I'm gonna miss my Mezz section. Great people and great views and under cover too.

But it'll be fun to see who is up in the Uppers and see how much it rocks. Totally ironic to me though, how most of the oldest fans got the furthest seats away. I never envisioned the new stadium selections to go this way... always figured 25 years of seniority would get us some really good seats.

    Thanks Woody.

Thanks 227! My parents paid for my undergrad degree but I didn't really like corporate America so i went back for teaching. I got my masters but that was all on me to do so I took out students loans. Alernate route didn't look so appealling and when I figured it out it made sense just go to back and get the masters degree and pay it off ASAP. I started making a decent living a few years later in life but I've always made sure to put money aside for a down payment. I will probably end up with a condo (hate the idea of a maintenance fee) but it's still better than renting especially in central NJ.

As far as a PSL goes it's hard to justify. There will be doctors and lawyers even upstairs for the new stadium. There are plenty of wealthy people out there but they don't just get wealthy automatically. It's from spending wisely and good investments.

I sometimes invest in tickets to other sports/concert events and 99% of the time I've made a profit. I've learned a couple of lessons but here are 2 things I do:

    1. check ebay past sales - how has this sold for in the past
    2. if I can't sell this will I be ok going to the event instead?

The Jets I don't look at things this way but if you go to ebay right now you can find a full season selling for $1,000 no problem. That's why there's no way they will sell out in 2010 and no way that people will ever pay the amount of money for a ticket. When I came up with the $350 per ticket price for a $15k PSL I realized NO ONE would ever pay that much for a football game unless it's an AFC championship game or a Super Bowl.

You're right that even wealthy people wouldn't spend $30k or more on football but as I explained, there will be people that will spend. And the Jets doesn't need that many people to spend it. They are in a market that includes the financial capital of the world, insurance capital of the world, tons of hedge funds, and tons of companies big and small in Jersey(Johnson & Johnson, Honeywell, ...). If I thought that I can get my seat for less than what I paid for it later, then I wouldn't have brought it now. We'll have to see in a few years.

And you live in Ct. I live an hour NW of Hartford. My tix are $80 each, parking is $20, gas round trip to the stadium is easily $75, add food and beer and every weekend the boys are at home costs me $350 bucks..

    I can't imagine paying 280 per pair.

    Good luck.
