Yeah...well.....if you had an iota of "foresight"....you'd probably have an easier time understanding the reasoning behind trading for a 2010 draft pick.

The talent pool slated for the 2010 draft is supposedly "off the charts".....

    Exactly!!!

The reason the Jets are looking to trade TJ are numerous:

    1) TJ is due around 3 Million in 2010....he's not going to be a Jet in 2010...guaranteed. The Jets aren't going to invest that kind of money in a 32 year old runningback. Tj has no value in 2010 and the Jet's lose leverage if we keep him for 2009.

    2) TJ has value for 2009 and some Team should offer a 4th rd pick in 2010's draft....probably the best draft class in 10+ years. The Jets could use the extra 4th rd pick to move up in the draft.

    3) Shonn Greene, Leon Washington, Danny Woodhead.....

Your point is right, but even 3 million would be quite doable. It would take $5.8 million (on top of his already paid signing bonus) to keep him next year. Obviously, that's ridiculous.

come on, this can't be listed. none of these guys have proven to shoulder a load at a high level.

Everyone clamors for Leon to be more involved in the offense, what about making Leon the feature back and Greene the change of pace. It's a lot more like what the Giants used to do with Jacobs instead of all this using the small guys sparingly. I'd rather have Leon be the every down back, tire down the D, and then hammer 'em with Greene, at least until one proves they're deserving of the #1 role. I think Leon can handle the load just like MJD will be able to in Jax this year.

    actually...he's VERY replaceable.

the HB position is the most easily "replaceable" on the offensive chart.

It is a 3 Million the signing bonus.........+$$$$$$$$$.

It's clear Tanny wasn't counting TJ past 2009.

To be fair, he said shoulder a load. Leon's max number of carries was, what, 176? That's a far cry from the numbers Jones has had the past few seasons. We may have faith in Leon, but his ability to be a full time back is unproven. I'd rather not find out, either. 15 carries seems like a good number for him.

No, the signing bonus actually raises it up to $7.4 million if you prorate it. He's due a roster bonus of 3 million, plus a salary number of 2.8 million. That's 5.8 million in new money.

They haven't given any reason to think they can't either. It's not like there's any guarantee Jones will be able to "shoulder the load" another year, and at his age, I'd be more worried about him than Greene or Leon.

Meh, easily forgivable. We're Jets fans. We jump on any perceived slight. Can happen to any of us.

that's a fair concern, but i think the whole age thing is blown out of proportion. he lit up the league LAST year. it's like he aged 5 years since the season or something.
