A trade with Seattle makes sense....IJR alluded to the fact that TJ would be interested in playing with his brother....plus the Seattle run game isn't anything that great to begin with....so they could use TJ. But if it happens...it better be for draft picks (next year's draft is shaping up well for talent).....Burleson & Branch aren't attractive options, IMO. I know we require WR depth....but those two "injuries waiting to happen" are the wrong way to go.
unless its a deal involving boltin or a sign and deal with san fran for crabtree i think this is a horrible move to trade him. i really dont want branch, he is old and injury prone
Crabtree or Boldin will not be traded to the Jets......try and move on from that. Some of you are severely "over-valuing" Thomas Jones. If we get a 3rd or 4th rounder for him.....we should be thankful.
which is why i wouldn't want to trade him. i love the idea of having the AFC pro bowl starter leading the potential awesomeness that is personified by leon washington and shonn greene.
Ryan talks about it because it is what he has. what else is he going to say? obviously Leon is in their long term plans, and they believe Greene will be able to carry the load one day.
even if we are over valuing him and get a 3rd or 4th whats the point of trading him at all. i believe he will still be solid and with leon and greene im sure it would be a nice 1-2-3 punch.
I never said we should trade him.....I said IF the jets trade him....this is what we should expect in return. I have no problem keeping him this season.
We'd save money getting rid of him. This guy is asking for 6 million per season - that's ridiculous. Getting a third or fourth rounder for a 30+ year old back is a hell of a move. 2009's draft was all about setting up this team up for the future. This offense will be built around Mark Sanchez - why not stock pile picks to get him a few weapons? These extra choices may come in handy if Tanny wants to move up a few spots to get a receiver. Some of you guys are acting like Thomas Jones is one of the best backs in the league, when clearly, he isn't. So what if he put up some decent numbers last season - he doesn't have much left in the tank. We have to get rid of him while he still has value...
This is what I was thinking as well....good call, Mr.E As we all know...Tanny likes to move up and down the draft board on draft day.....so this would make total sense. We may need the extra draft picks if we intend to move up and grab a wideout like A.Benn or D.Bryant.
I'd settle for a 4th but i don'tnow f they'l offer it to us... wonder how Caulcrick is doing in camp...
Right, and earlier in the offseason, I was firmly in the trade Thomas Jones camp, as you may remember. My only thing right now, which I've been trying to stress, is the timing. Trades don't often happen this far into camp, which made me think that the team was perhaps simply trying to explore options that weren't present before or during the draft. I'm not sure at this point that we're looking to get a 4th rounder for him. If that were the case, however, I'd be ok with it. If it were a 3rd, even better. I just don't see this as much more than exploring every option.
i just dont feel greene is ready to carry the load right now even though i do believe he will in the future. i feel if they trade him for draft picks they are in a way throwing away this season since we are going to be a run first offense.. cant we just send him to mangini for edwards
haha. or just throw all 11 on stephen jackson coverage. better yet, throw jones at the rams for OJ atogwe. i am on fire with these canadian trades.
