Minnesota stranding a lot of RISP today.

    They're up 1-0 in the 4th.

Twins and Indians both have a shortstop named Cabrera batting second/

Amazing that he never even made it to the majors with San Diego.

Marlins got swept by the Nationals. Now that's impressive.

They're not going to make the playoffs.

teams that will not make the playoffs:

    Toronto
    Baltimore

    Cleveland
    Kansas City

    Oakland

    Florida
    Mets
    Washington

    Houston
    Cincinnati
    Pittsburgh

    Arizona
    San Diego

    My opinion, of course.

I was at the game at Natinals Park on Wednesday night. Nice ballpark with a cool view of the Capitol over the LF fence, but there were barely 20,000 people there on a perfect night for baseball. Adam Dunn hit a ball into the second deck. Sure am glad Minaya didn't want him since he strikes out too much.

I've got to get there for a game at some point. I have relatives in Baltimore, so maybe I'll go when I visit them next.

    Big favorites lost today.

Arizona with Haren -200 lost to the Nats 5-2.

Phillies at home with Hamels -235 lost 6-4 to the Marlins.

Tigers at home with Verlander -187 lost 11-0 to the Twins, who had Pavano pitching.

Braves running a garbage lineup out there in LA tonight against Kershaw.

    No McCann, Chipper, or McLouth.

Ryan Church is playing center and leading off in McLouth's stead.

Ump blew a call in San Diego, calling a Padre out at home to end an inning.

    Fans booing everything now.

Chad Gaudin likely to start for Joba on Sunday.

Smoltz will not accept a minor league assignment.

Troy Tulowitzki hit for the cycle on Tuesday night. He also homered tonight.

Anyway, Tulo became the second player in MLB history to both hit for the cycle and record an unassisted triple play in a career.

Solid job tonight by Pedro tonight. I'm glad he's still around for at least this season.

Johnny Gomes hit three homers as the Reds and Bronson Arroyo shut out the Nationals, 7-0. Arroyo pitched a two hitter.

I read years ago in SI about Adrian Beltre not wearing a cup.

    He's a third baseman and doesn't wear a cup.

Well, now he's going to be out a long time. He came back from shoulder surgery and got hit in the crotch by a hard grounder.

Now he's going to have to have surgery on his balls.
