Hopefully it's not too serious. Jenkins is the anchor in this defense, cheers to a quick recovery. I would absolutely hate to see a Jet's D without Jenkins, as you said hardhitta, it would be a looong season, especially if Clemens/Sanchez do not pan out. This season's Jets are going to be based on D, this is the last thing that needs to happen.
SNY reported that Jenkins' calf injury is worse than they thought, and he may miss more than just a few days. Rex Ryan said he might miss more time than "we expected" and most of the estimates were now putting it at a week. He was already exercising with the strength coach and riding the bike with a sleeve on his calf.
There is no proven, viable backup behind this guy. Pouha is 300+ lbs of useless turds stuffed in a Jets uniform and I recall hearing something about Howard Green being someone who could also spell Jenkins. This team MUST look to fill the NT void with our 32nd overall pick in the first round of the 2010 NFL draft.
One positive to come out of the camp reports this year is that there is ZERO D'Brick news. In years past, it was always that he was underized, lost or playing without a mean streak. Granted, this is only the first week in camp but it's the first year that he's not being called out- rather nice, don't you think?
He'll be fine come the start of the season. It's a bummer but maybe it'll give Rex some more time to work with Pouha and get him to develop.
the media has moved on to their new first round whipping boy. brick will get his when they run out of stuff to write about gholston.
