Cubs take a 2-1 lead in the top of the 9th with a solo shot by Jake Fox.

Marlins answer back in the bottom of the 9th with back to back solo homers off of Kevin Gregg. Uggla and then Ross.

    Marlins win 3-2.

2 runs in 8 innings and then 3 in 1, which never got completed.

Gregg got pinch hitter Hanley Ramirez to pop out before serving two up.

Justin Upton: Strike swinging, Parra caught stealing, catcher to shortstop, Foul, Ball, Upton grounded out to third.
Mark Reynolds: Reynolds homered to left center.

Josh Whitesell: Ball, Ball, Strike swinging, Ball, Strike looking, Whitesell walked, Roberts to second.
Chris B. Young: Strike swinging, Foul, Ball, Young popped out to shortstop.
End of Inning (3 Runs, 5 Hits, 0 Errors)

    Diamondbacks 2nd
    Nelson Figueroa pitching:

He got 4 outs (not including the caught stealing), gave up 10 hits, walked one, and allowed 6 runs and counting (two runners on base as Redding comes in).

He didn't want to come out but Torre did the right thing. After tweaking his knee he walked his first guy, then lost the plate for a bit, then got out of the inning. He had his five innings, a 4-0 lead, it was the right move. If he stayed out there he could have messed himself up and for what?

Adam Dunn caps off a 6 run 8th inning with a 2-run shot to give the Nationals a 6-4 lead.

K-rod blows the save, for anyone who actually cares.

Yeah, I thought he had that save. 7-7 in the 9th now.

Bard implodes in Tampa Bay. Allows his first homer to Longoria, then throws away a bunt.

    Bases juiced now.

    Wow.

So after the Longoria homer, he walked the next guy (the tying run). Then Bard threw the bunt under the bullpen, but the umps award the runners second and third, when the runner likely would've scored had it not gone out of play.

The ball apparently went into an equipment bag. They ruled it two bases.

Then Bard walked Pena (who did not deserve to be in the ASG) to load the bases. He Kd Upton, Delcarmen came in and Kd Gross (PHing for Navarro) and then Burrell grounded out to end the inning.

Huge break for the Red Sox.

    2-2 in the 9th now.

Pujols just hit a grand slam. 4-5 2 HR 5 RBIs 3 R 1 BB. Not even a Mutts game thread to post this in.....

I'm so glad I have Pujols on my Fantasy squad and it's a keeper league.

I figured you'd find it funny, Yis.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Pujols is on that list.

I'm going to try and go to the game at 12:10 PM.

Some dude on eBay is selling tickets and says he'll meet people at the stadium or something.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270432246308

make an offer now (mine was $50) if you can make it.

    I should've started lower.

$125 face value, $75 buy it now.

The guy still has a few left and he sounds desperate to unload them.

I haven't been to a game this season, so this seemed like a good opportunity.

    12:10 PM EDT start.

Some jackass is offering seats on StubHub for $800 each.

    What a bargain!

Come see the minor league Mets play a meaningless game at 12:10 on a Wednesday in August!

Something to keep an eye on--last night in a Dodger rout of the Brewers, Manny hit a solo HR and double, 3 RBI total, then got plunked seemingly by accident. With 2 out in the 9th, up 17-4, Guillermo Mota nailed Prince Fielder with an obvious purpose pitch and got immediately ejected. They exchanged words, after the game Fielder tried to storm the Dodger clubhouse (shades of Mike Piazza going after Mota) and was turned away by security.

Mota made no comment, Russell Martin, the catcher, alluded to the team "sticking together", likely a reference to Manny getting hit in the NLCS by the Phillies last year and being upset that the Dodgers didn't respond, namely Chad Billingsley. Also interesting is that the Dodgers had Ramon Trancoso warming up in the bullpen up 17-4 with Mota on the mound and he was ready to come in when Mota got tossed. The teams play again tonight.

^ yeah, I heard about Fielder going after Mota and having to be restrained. I despise Mota.

Mets got a few more injuries today.

Luis Castillo, Jon Niese, and Gary Sheffield.

Niese fell down in the second like he was shot. Apparently was a hamstring injury.

For the Yankees, Cody Ransom was DFAd today.

BJ Upton, after complaining about being dropped in the order, struck out swinging four times. BJ, when you strike out a ton and don't get on base, you don't get to bat leadoff (unless you're Chris Young in 2008).

    Kevin Kouzmanoff today:

    Padres 1st
    Tommy Hanson pitching:
Everth Cabrera: Ball, Ball, Ball, Cabrera walked.
Will Venable: Ball, Cabrera caught stealing, catcher to shortstop, Venable reached on an infield single.
Adrian Gonzalez: Pickoff attempt, Ball, Pickoff attempt, Ball, Ball, Gonzalez walked, Venable to second.
Kevin Kouzmanoff: Strike swinging, Strike swinging, Ball, Kouzmanoff grounded into double play shortstop to second to first, Gonzalez out at second.

    Padres 4th
    Tommy Hanson pitching:
Will Venable: Strike looking, Strike looking, Ball, Venable struck out swinging.
Adrian Gonzalez: Ball, Ball, Foul, Foul, Ball, Gonzalez walked.
Kevin Kouzmanoff: Strike looking, Ball, Ball, Ball, Strike swinging, Kouzmanoff grounded into double play shortstop to second to first, Gonzalez out at second.

    Padres 6th
Tony K. Gwynn hit for Luis M. Perdomo
    Tommy Hanson pitching:
Tony K. Gwynn: Ball, Strike looking, Gwynn flied out to center.
Everth Cabrera: Ball, Cabrera doubled to right.
Will Venable: Ball, Venable homered to right, Cabrera scored.
Adrian Gonzalez: Strike looking, Gonzalez singled to right.
Kevin Kouzmanoff: Ball, Kouzmanoff grounded into double play third to second to first, Gonzalez out at second.

It's just like clockwork. A-Gone gets on with 1 out, Kouzmanoff gidp to end the inning.

Carl Crawford opposite field two run homer.

Coupled with Pena's two run shot earlier and it's 4-1 Rays in the third.
