Friday 7:05 PM : Smoltz (1-4) vs. Guthrie (7-9) Sat 7:05 PM : Beckett (12-4) vs.Hernandez (3-2) Sunday 1:35 PM: Buchholz (1-1) vs. Berken (1-8) Any word on if V-Mart is going to make the game?
- Smoltz needs to go into the pen. He consistently looks good for 3-4 innings before crapping the bed. Time to call up Bowden and have Smoltz replace Masterson. the pen. - Paps finally looked like an all star caliber closer without loading the bases first. - It's always seemed weird to me that Ellsbury is only a 10-15 hr guy max. When he occasionally does go yard it's often a moonshot. He's also starting to hit to the opposite field with more authority. His home runs look like they could be from a 20-25 guy whenever they do come. If he ever developed into that which more than likely he won't, he would be a monster.
Hahahaha after all that arguing over the LaRoche trade with you guys and LTS and they flip him. I actually like Kotchman alot more for what the sox are looking for. He's a magician with the glove.
his HR's are moonshots because he gets his hands so far inside and sells out to the pull when he wants to. not to mention his bat speed is lightning fast. he's finally on that streak where he can be a force as a leadoff man. if he hits 10 hr's a season while posting a .350 OBP, we'll be a lot harder to beat and dustin pedroia will be a happier man. Reddick in the lineup tonight! Show some sparks out there kid.
Let's speculate on rotation when wake gets back: beckett lester BUCHHOLZ wake penny with smoltz going to the pen. and then hopefully dice k pushes penny out.
Nevermind, didn't see what the retro date was. end of August isn't too bad. Fresh for the stretch run.
HA. we'll see how fresh it is. I really do have faith in dice k. IF you watched his starts, you'd notice he was great until he would hit 70-80 pitches, where he just dead tired.
Very excited to see Martinez in there tonight. Hopefully he has a good start. With Beckett going tonight and the lineup seeming to wake up a bit I have a good feeling about tonight. Of course, that could be gone after the second inning.
i always feel like a win with beck on the mound. mind you , this Hernandez guy dominated us last time out.
Ugh, not a good start for Martinez. Swings at a high pitch to strike out. I don't blame him though, he was probably nervous and anxious as hell.
you know what was funny about that last time this hernandez started against us? he had about 17 to 2 FLYouts to groundouts. That's a mindblowing ratio. It seems we could have posted a big number on him then, so I confident we will do so now.
