I don't remember the specifics Willie. You may be right. I just remember a bunch of articles slamming both of them.
I don't think we're calling the season just by what we've seen thus far. If it came across that way, then let me tell you straight up, that's not the case. That being said, I still don't think Dirty having more receptions and less INTs than KC, when Dirty has a single college starting year under him and no NFL years, and KC having 4 years in the NFL, instills any confidence in him. Yep, only day 1, but still, this kid with 16 post HS starts in any league should not be out performing a 4 year NFL guy on any day.
Looking forward to it, Petro. The tweets are great for some quick info, but I can't wait to read your initial impressions.
Haha, I can't believe all these posts about Sanchez out performing KC! You guys do realize that Sanchez is playing against the 2nd team Defense, and Clemens is playing against the likes of Bart Scott, Darrelle Revis, Lito Sheppard, David Harris, and Kerry Rhodes! They're not going to throw Sanchez to the wolves in the first day of Training Camp so he looks like shit against All Stars. That being said. I still want Sanchez to be the starter come day 1.
Yes we fully realize that, and he still hasn't managed to sense the blitz coming, so no parades yet. Again, it's all relative: 4 years NFL compared to 1 year of college. P.S. Fireman Ed gives me second-hand embarrassment.
I think we all know that he's going against the 2nd team defense, but that said, they threw Sanchez to the wolves at mini-camps all summer. He will perform in the face of adversity. Its day 1, practice 1. Have some faith people.
As WSW already said, all the beat writers talked about was the INT count between kellen and chad duing TC last year. Chad was clearly outperforming Kellen last year in camp. I know INT isn't the only thing to judge a QB competition on, but I remember the score being something like Chad 2- Kellen 10
Actually, Pennington wasn't throwing many picks at all early in camp, and he was taking a big lead. Then Clemens started to play a little better, and Pennington made a few more mistakes (on top of not making the big plays like we all know he doesn't), and once that happened, both QB's looked equally unappealing. EDIT: Yes, the INT count, god that was annoying. Probably doing more of that this offseason though.
If Clemens keeps going like he is, all of the beat writers will be taking their shoes off by the second week of TC.
It's a catch 22 though. We want our defense to be getting INT's because if they're not getting them against two inexperienced QB's then that wouldn't bode well for the regular games. Remember, whenever looking at any training camp update, each time you cheer you also have to groan: "Sanchez completed a long 40-yard TD? Awesome. Wait, that means someone on D had to give up that pass? Not good." This is why you can't really look too much into what happens at TC. It will make you crazy.
That's true, there's two sides to that whole thing. The only thing I'd add here is that I believe that 40 yarder was 1 on 1s
Oh I know. Just using it as an example, as I hope and fear there are more of those to come. I hope he throws some great passes, but I fear if he does, that won't go over well with our secondary.
