Not me. The half-assery (if that's a word) of the whole thing kind of represents that whole Jets era to me. Not good, not bad, just overall half-assery.
With all due respect to the great Ronnie Lott wearing our uniform, I think Bruce Harper was still our greatest #42. I had high hopes for Marcus Coleman, still wish we had kept him. NFLN is showing the MNF Miracle again, he had two huge picks in a row in OT or we'd have lost that game.
Some teams went all out and some didn't, only Houston, Atlanta and SD changed their helmet color w/ the throwbacks. Plenty of teams that had changed helmet colors didn't switch for the throwbacks.
Yeah, we weren't alone but we still half-assed it. Maybe it's just me, I'm partial to the white helmets, always have been. I was thrilled the first time I saw them back--the Giants pre-season game on a Thursday night ESPN game. I wasn't in the local area back then so it was the first I saw them since I was a kid. I remember a close-up of Vinny and it reminded me of Namath, at that time we didn't even know what he had in store for us, either. That 1998 season certainly helped cement my favor of the white helmets, too, and the years that followed.
My first memories are of the green helmets so I am partial to them. I'm ok w/ the white helmets but they are a little boring. I love the rest of the uni though especiallt since they darkened up the green.
To be truthful, I was 11 in 1978 when they switched to green and the first thing they did was beat Miami and have a decent season. All I had seen them do before that was be horrible, except the second half of 1974, so at first I was all for the green helmets. But after 20 more years of pain and disappointment, we went out and finally won a division the first year in the same white helmets I'd seen in the Super Bowl III clips all those years. Since then I've tried to rid myself of the "logo of pain" as much as possible and only use the "logo of champions".
One of the highest momets in jets history as Matt Snell scores the Jets only SB TD. To one of our lowest moments watching keith Byars fumble away a golden opportunity to get to our 2nd SB.
Keith Byars is now the new Varsity Football Head Coach for Boca Community High School. The old coach was fired for illegal recruiting.
Donnie Elder Jo Jo Heath TIM MORESCO Sorry I couldn't find any pics with the numbers on the jerseys A side note- you can go here to see the all time roster for the Jets and see every player who wore a particular number. The list is sorted by last name http://www.newyorkjets.com/team/all_time
That's the December 1985 game vs the great Bears team. We were in that game, ultimately cost us the division. I had a final exam that morning (a Saturday) then that game, rough Saturday for a college freshman.
Yep, Saturday 12:30 start. I miss those days. We always seemed to have a Sat game(as did the Giants) the last couple of weeks in the season. I think our last Sat. afternoon reg season game was at Buf 1998.
