He has been awful his entire career (only two seasons, of course).

Why do you think the line was so big? Pettitte is average, but the starter for Oakland has been so bad that the line was huge.

Coming into today, he was 2-6 career with an ERA of about 8.5.

Nationals radio broadcast has an ad that says "Gaylord National is the place for your kids."

    I see.

Anyway, the Nationals have three hits... two of them by John Lannan. Scoreless in the 6th.

Lannan's first multi-hit game of his career.

the reason i think that line was so huge is that oakland can't find first against lefties.

    Knock yourself out.

If a guy is 2-6 with an 8.5 ERA in his second season, yeah he's been awful.

How do you think betting lines are made? Past performance.

Gio Gonzalez has the potential to be a good pitcher, but he had been absolutely terrible up until that point.

If he strings a few good starts together, bettors will give him more respect.

Austin Kearns wins it in the 10th for the Nationals.

He was brought in as a defensive replacement for Dunn in the 9th after Washington took a 2-1 lead in the 8th.

San Diego tied it, though. Game went to extra innings, bringing up the cleanup spot with 1st and 2nd and 2 outs in the bottom of the 10th.

Kearns finally did something at the plate.

Aaron Cook just doubled for Colorado.

Josh Willingham hit two grand slams and Washington beat Milwaukee, 14-6.

He went 3/5 with 8 RBI, tying the franchise record for RBI in a single game.

In other news, Lincecum went the distance against the hapless Pirates, allowing 4 hits and striking out 15.

    He's now 11-3 with a 2.3 ERA.

Lincecum and Matt Cain are the best 1-2 pitchers in the baseball this season. Both are candiates for the NL Cy Young

I'd say Haren has been the best pitcher in baseball, but San Francisco has two of the top five starters in baseball.

Anyone know what happened to Oswalt? He was taken out in the second inning...

...not that I'm rooting for an injury but I DID just trade the guy for Nick Markakis two days ago.

According to MLB.com's Alyson Footer, Roy Oswalt has been diagnosed with a left lower back strain.
Oswalt departed in the second inning Tuesday with what looked to be a finger injury. It's not yet clear how long he might be out, but there's a good chance he'll be skipped next time through the starting rotation.

He got knocked out in the 7th and he's likely going to wind up with a loss.

    Down 4-1 and counting.
