White Sox lefty Mark Buehrle throws a perfect game in a 5-0 victory over the Rays in Chicago. Dewayne Wise preserves the game by preventing a homer with a catch for the first out in the ninth. ^ cbs.sportsline front page
crazy. one would think that with the young and exciting players the rays have they could get at least 1 man on base.
Ramon Castro was catching Buehrle for the first time yesterday. Same HP umpire for the no hitter and the perfect game. Another ump was on the bases for both. Buehrle was on the mound during the game for a total of 32 minutes.
^ wow Detroit leads the White Sox 5-1 in the 9th. Verlander is at 115 pitches. He allowed hits to the first three batters in the 9th. Somehow, he's not being taken out.
He's now at 125, but he got Beckham to ground into a crucial double play, and that'll preserve the win. Still don't get the long leash, though. I would've pulled him after the first single, with that elevated pitch count.
Rays won 10-9 after trailing 9-1 in the 7th in Toronto. Yankees lost today as a -350 favorite (they were facing the awful Gio Gonzalez). The three biggest favorites to lose this season: all the Yankees at home. 6/18 vs. Nationals: Joba loses to Craig Stammen 7/2 vs. Mariners: Sabathia loses to Jason Vargas 7/25 vs. A's: Pettitte loses to Gio Gonzalez true minor league baseball: Padres at Nationals this weekend. By far the two worst teams in baseball.
it makes sense they would be the top 3. most people are going to bet on the yankees, and once in a while they are going to lose those games. and gio gonzalez isn't awful.
