HAH. Cassell should be buying Bernard Pollard's meals for the rest of his career.

I thought he signed this deal a while back ago. How is this new news?

Yeah, I'm probably mistaken. I could've sworn I heard he had signed a multi-year deal sometime before OTA's kicked off tho. That's why I felt this was old news.

While I fully believe Cassell deserves a chance to start in this league...in now way does he deserve that contract. Ridiculous. Plain and simple. No way around it.

I thought they had gotten past the Carl Peterson Era...Cassel is making a ton of cash and hasn't proven he can win outside of the Pats system. This is a HUGE gamble by the new Chief HQ. I guess they're attempting to put their stamp on the franchise but if Cassel stinks the joint out, they'll be screaming bring back for the new guy's scalp like they did for CP.

Ballsy or desperate. I really dunno in this case. Perhaps both...

Mark Sanchez got 5/50 with 28 mil guaranteed. Stafford got 6/78 with 41.7 mil guaranteed. A guy who's still relatively young and has shown the ability to put together an above average season in the NFL deserves at least what those guys got.

    ROFLLLLL

Amazing what happens when the franchise QB of a team goes down..a scrub backup comes in...does well because of the system and now gets his big payday.

He should thank the gods Brady got hurt

good for him he has gotten the short end of the stick throughout his career. i doubt he is gonna end up being worth all this money, but i can't hate the guy for getting his money.

He's probably worth the deal. His performance last year in his first real playing time was very good even considering the supporting cast. He's likely to be a top 10 QB at his peak and help the Chiefs considerably.

Going to the top ranked college program in the nation and getting beat out by another "AAA" prospect usually kills a guy's chances. He was one of the best high school QB's in the nation and then he got to sit for a long time. Now he's living up to the high school billing.

Absolutely - at least his 16 games started were in the NFL. This contract is ridiculous - and so were the contracts of Sanchez and Stafford.

    This.

As absurd as it is, at least Cassel showed he could do it at this level.
