You should care, your team in serious need for Olb help with Pace out the first four weeks. Heck even with pace your olb are nothing to write home about. Don't let the Patriots beat you to the punch.

Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't it kind of unthinkable that a draft choice would be cut before camp even starts?

So are you trying to suggest that a sixth round reject from the Raiders, of all franchises, would become a prominent linebacker some place else? If that sixth round reject has such a high potential, why would Al Davis cut him? Mark my words - that Stryker dude is done in possibly 24 months of football, if he lasts that long.
Raiders probably are giving the kid a chance to make a roster, (by releasing him) as the odds of him making the Raiders roster wasn't that great. The signing oF Greg ellis after the draft probably doom any chance he had. Raiders drafted him as situational pass rusher / SSlb Lets See Greg ellis 6'6 265 , Derrick Burgess 6'2 260(just a situational pass rusher- last time in that role lead Nfl in sacks with 16 ) Trevor scott 6'5 260 ( rewatch him embarrassing both your tackles), Greyson Gunheim6'5 265 , Derrick Gray 6'4 264(one of the top small college pass rushers- who spent a year on Ps) Matt Shaughnesy 6'5 270(only one out of this group is not a pass rusher). Jay Richardson- 6'6 280 run stuffer and Desmond Bryant(Harvard 6'5 290 - probably will spend a year on PS as its going to be tough cracking roster at DE. LBs 1. wlb Thomas Howard . 2 MLB K Morrison 3. SSlb Jon Alston 4. Ricky Brown Mlb/any LB position 5 sslb Slade Norris (like Chuck can do what he wants) 6. David Nixon(another Howard and Alston as he has ability to play man coverage) 7.Isaiah Ekejiuba(special team ace)8 Ps- Chris Oneill (Te making transition to LB will spend a year honing his craft. Thomas Howard and jon Alston are two of the fastest LBs around . Both are just better options rushing the passer than Sulak. Highly regarded LB Joseph Frantz has no shot to make Raiders roster as he dosen't possess the speed neccesary to play in this defense.
Again Jets need help rushing the passer at OLB with or without C Pace. Just not impressive group as a whole. They should be bringing this guy in ,before the Patriots beat them to the punch. Thats the only point you should be thinking about.
