Vrabel has been continuing his holdout in KC and is reportedly still feeling livid about being traded to the Chiefs and totally betrayed by the Patriots. With Pace gone for the first 4 games, I think a deal for Vrabel, who I have little doubt would be motivated for blood and guts vengeance against his former employer, might be an ideal replacement provided a reasonably priced deal could be worked out. Vrabel certainly has more left in the tank than McGinnest and could be a tremendous asset as well as add quality depth to our LB rotation.

Vrabel would be a great pickup however I don't see the Chiefs giving him up easily. He would probably cost us too much.

How about we not try to mortgage our future for 4 games. If he can come in for a 5th rounder, fair enough. Otherwise no, no and no!

HELL NO..... no way no way no way. the guy is a complete tool, a vastly overrated lb and is obviously past his prime or the patsies would have held onto him.

i will give them this very very rarely do guys that they give away or let get away turn into anything spectacular.

Vrabel was a product of a system... EOS.

Let him go to Cleveland or become someone elses "Old Man w/experience"

Just the thought of starting a thread with that title is upsetting

Haven't you read the news. Calvin Pace has been suspended. The Jets need an old guy to fill a role that a sixth overall pick can't fill.

Too bad Vrabel was traded to the Chiefs.

I highly doubt that Scott Pioli is going to be dealing with the New York Jets anytime soon.

He would be a better pick-up than Willie McGinest, but either would be a nice addition.

Remember though, Pace is suspended for 4 games, not the entire season. We will be using Gholston, Murrell, Trusnik & Westerman to create pressure in his place. If you trade for Vrabel, where is he playing come Week 5? He will make a couple of million, easily, and we already will have to sit either Thomas or Gholston, both making at least $5 million per season.

Injuries and suspensions happen, we don't need to grab some over the hill lb for a couple games, Gholston should be fine, we drafted him #6, now let him earn his paycheck.

Agreed. It is time for Vernon to show us something. Now is his chance.

+1 save for the fifth rounder, I wouldn't do it for more than a sixth. If the rest of the roster can't cut it then get McGinest for the vet minimum. Otherwise, say hello to Jamaal Westerman. The guy has been learning both ILB and OLB positions so I say he's got a good shot and landing one of the spots if Gladys can't cut it.

That's how I see it. Vrabel can holdout forever before Pioli would deal him to the Jets. But I'd take him in a second.

The likelihood we are contenders this year w/ a rookie QB is slim as it is. We don't have to go nuts to replace Pace for 4 games. if it costs us a game or even 2 so be it. We are looking long term here, this season will be a success if Sanchez can develop then next year we should have a legot shot to do some damage in January. I hpe he develops quicker and we can be good this year but realistically that is going to be difficult.

This is the NFL, anything can happen at anytime but with a new coaching staff and Quarterback, it is hard to disagree with what you have said. I just hope that Jet fans, MYSELF INCLUDED because I know how hard I can get on this franchise, remembers posts like this and remembers the building of a young QB IF the team does indeed take a step back record wise in 2009. Our fanbase is quick to judge/label someone either "the savior" or "the suck". After 8 games started, Kellen Clemens was 10x worse than Ryan Leaf to this fanbase. I hope Mark Sanchez doesn't receive the same treatment if we are 2-6 or 3-5 after his first 8 starts.

i think sanchez will be given a fair shot, there is far too much love for this guy right now for everyone to turn on him. clemens was a different situation, he was a 2nd round guy who nobody really talked about trying to replace a guy who had been here for years.

this kid is the hyped up qb of everyones dreams right now. he will be given his chance because so many want so badly for him to succeed.

the shame is that i think we will see sometime during his second season that he is not all he has been cracked up to see :(

I can see Clemens playing pretty well until getting hurt in week 5 and people cheering him going down so they can see Sanchez play.
