The WR corp does not look so great right now. I believe the team should add a veteran but who?

Pick Plaxico Burress, Amani Toomer, Marvin Harrison, Stay the same, or someone else.

I think one more could not hurt and I would go with Harrison.

Burress. Low risk, high reward. He's got a chip on his shoulder now. Is a 1 year incentive-laden deal a gamble to the NYJ at all?? I don't think so.

Burress' trial was pushed back right? Thats why he could be a decent option.

Anyone know any other FA Wideouts I forgot to add?

Marvin Harrison! I think Plax is mentally handicapped and Im not joking either. Marvin Harrison can still perform to a high level and in all the years Iv watched him , he gets deep on defenses and open often. This would be a good go to guy for Sanchez.

im going to say this again. Why is everyone so eager to throw aside the medical issues of Burress? The idiot shoots himself in the leg, and people care less about this than a minor medical procedure? I mean for all we know, Plax isnt going to be playing at a normal level pre-shooting because of the muscle and nerve damage he suffered as a result of SHOOTING HIMSELF! and then having the bullet removed.

given my druthers, Harrison or Toomer are the best options, easy one year deal as a security blanket, they challenge for the starting spot opposite cotchery, if not they play the slot. They have been around for a long time, and are some of the most consistent players over the last decade or so. Both would be excellent mentors for our young WR corp.

Why do people look at 35ish-year-old washed-up has-beens who have been declining for years and are attracting zero interest on the free agent market and say, "I remember what a great downfield threat that guy was 2 years ago -- let's sign him!" I agree the Jets need to add someone, but why on earth bring in some creaky old fossil who can't play anymore? What such and such player did in the past is totally irrelevant.

Those that want to keep what we've got are thinking with their hearts not their heads.

I agree, especially because you can "keep what you've got" while still adding somebody for if (when) those guys disappoint.

But people who want to add washed-up veterans are thinking with player statistics from 3-4 years ago. Those players don't exist anymore; what's left are just their fossilized remains.

Burress has been training at full speed for months now. He is fine. He shot himself in the fatty part of his leg.

I wasn't comfortable with the options in this poll. I would have first voted for keeping what we have and hope Cotch becomes a great #1. That option still shows a glaring need for a solid #2. Burress is young and good enough to be a #1, and if he doesn't get the catches/attention he wants he will become a locker room headache. At least a little more than the distraction he will already be. I voted for Harrison, but I think Toomer could be just as servicable. They are both at the point in their career where their ability will rub off on those around them. I also feel they are both classy enough, in a football mentallity, to accept the role of mentor for the young receivers on this team. Lets hope the front office makes the right decision and adds a WR that will have an impact, whether it be on the field every Sunday or in the lockerroom/practice field everyday.

LOL, couldn't have said it better.

Cotchery is not a #1 WR and can not handle the pressure or double coverage that comes with it. He had opertunities last year and stuggled.

Clowney is the one I had high hopes on but he is not showning he is ready to even be a #2 yet. (Maybe after some more time.)

Stuckey may come out the best of the unproven but not ready for the spotlight.

Smith will be lucky to even catch a dozen passes this year. We wastes enough time with him at WR. ST ace is all he will be.

Henry, Urrutia & Whittaker are all raw 6'4"-6'6" receivers that could prove to be a diamond in the rough.

All said, I do not want a rookie QB or an unproven QB going into the season with this band of merry men.

The best receiver we have on the team is Dustin, but he is no Gates.

The WR I'd like the Jets to sign the most right now is Mark Tauscher.

I disagree with the highlighted portions of yor post in that
    a) i don't think many will say that M. Harrison has been declining for years, and look at some of the older talent in this league(ex; Joey "greyheaded 30somethin yearold" Galloway, who can still burn down the field. Great pickup for the pats,
    b) And the second bolded part is YES what you do in the past is what gets you an opportunity to at least work out/get evaluated by the current coaching staff.....

GET MARVIN, he's got something to add!

I still don't understand why Torry Holt wasn't signed while he was available.
