That pitch to Santos wasn't even close to being a strike. This just proves that when a pitcher is throwing strikes, his strike zone also starts growing. It will be a miracle if the Mets score today.
After going 3 for 4 last night, I was surprised Manuel didn't drop Church below Johan in the lineup today and try Mr. Met at cleanup.
they just said on the radio they don't remember seeing the fastball above 92. Ugh. They said at least once 93. C'mon.
F Mart with the big catch to get Santana out of the inning. Given how he started, Johan ended up pitching very well. I'd really like some insurance runs here.
yeah, and the replacement stream doesn't work. I'll keep looking. Strange decision by La Russa. He pinch-hit for Carpenter (82 pitches) with his backup catcher, who doesn't hit well anyway.
Sorry to reference back to yesterday's game when we're in the middle of today's, but I was at the game yesterday and had a few questions that I was hoping someone might know the answer to. It seemed like Jerry did alot of double switches and substitutions late in the game yesterday despite having an enormous lead. Pulling Evans. Even pulling Wright after he went 4 for 4. Switching Tatis to 3rd and putting Reed in Left. What was the point of all that? Also, why in the world was Livan Hernandez pinch hitting? I've never seen a pitcher pinch hit before. Finally, why did St. Louis bat their SS, Ryan, AFTER their pitcher? I've never seen someone bat after the pitcher in the NL before. Thanks to anyone who has some answers about these questions!
does larussa manage every game like it's game 7 of the world series? feels like a yankees/red sox game with these ridiculous pitching changes
