The only missing ingredient, is a safety Blitz by Marcus Pollard. But we've added enough to overcome that.
Honestly I think we'll be fine without a true #1 WR. Who knows, one of the guys we have might turn into one. However, I think the one time we'll miss a tall, #1 WR is in the red zone. We'll be alright. Our season depends on us having a top notch defense and a conservative, no-turnover offense. If either fails, we will be mediocre.
Gholston or draft another OLB and hope he pans out. The Jets need that type of player. If Turner blossoms into a guy who can play RT,G, and C without the line having a steep drop off the Jets will be in a good spot.
For a gazillionth time... /rant on LISTEN, MORONS. IN 3-4 SCHEMES, DLs DO NOT PROVIDE PASS RUSH. i.e. Aaron What's-his-face had 9 sacks in 4 seasons as a 3-4 DE in Pittsburgh. In 3-4, DEs are DT Lite - they are mostly two-gapping linemen, with the responsibility of run stuffing. /rant off
Just FYI, Vince Wilfork will be a FA after this season... so if we can restructure Jenkins a little bit (longer security, at discount price. He can't refuse that one, at his age.) maybe we can lure Wilfork in - and we're set for the next 10 years at NT. (I really wanted that Ron Brace kid - fucking Belicheat snatched him at 2nd...)
he meant that the pass rush wasn't in his "missing ingredients" - meaning the LBs. I don't think he was alluding to the front 3.
Pass rush will come from improved run defense & blitzing. Look for LB's & Murrell to get increased productivity.
Why is another RB needed.....Its called depth & injuries. Greene could be an everydown bacm; Wahington isn't an everydown back; Jones is a straight ahead power back. Give me another RB who combines all there qualities in one RB & then I'm satisfied. Caulcrick is alot like Jones , but with less speed....more of a goal line or move the pile RB.
Over the years...I see ur still dim-witted about football. Go back to the B.S. forum. Strengths of are team....ha ha ha. Dude, if u wanna see strength & depth....look across the river at the NY Giants & u will see quality depth in there OL & DL. So wake up buddy & speak after u have studied....Not before !!!
Jones is not a power back, that's one reason why they drafted Greene. Look for him to get the majority of the 3rd and short yardage and goal line carries. I think he's going to be HUGE for us this year. I think you're off base with the running back thing. We have a great mix of skills with the three guys we have. No, we don't have a superstar running back, but we have a great mix of skills with the 3 we have. Jones - steady workhorse one cut back who you can rely on for 15-20 carries a game all season. Washington - Quick, shifty, elusive change of pace guy with great hands. Greene - Obviously unproven but a powerful back that loves to put his shoulder down and punish defenders.
Jets have a big rookie TE from Arkansas in camp. Maybe evolves in a good blocker. He has great size. Jets need TE for blocking. Jets' have pass catching TE {Keller} on roster already....remember.
