One receiver option that could pop up is Denver WR Brandon Marshall who has asked for a trade. Marshall is extremely talented, but a bit of a head case (what receiver isn't?). Me either but if you can get a top flight WR which Marshall has become... it's worth it. Plex is a one year fix... Marshall is here for a long time.
Depending on the price, I'd rather have the short-term fix and worry about WR later. Sure, it's the biggest need on the team, but what happens if Jenkins goes down again, and we need to draft his replacement, and we don't have a first? Or we need a pass rusher or something else? Marshall's also been hit with a number of suspensions by the league. What if we give up a first for him, and suddenly he gets Josh Evans'd for the year?
Nine of out ten times I'd agree with this, Mack.....but Brandon Marshall is a FREAK of nature. 25 years old 230lbs 6'4 206 receptions over the last 2 seasons (excellent hands) breakaway speed I'd be willing to give up draft picks for this guy.... We probably won't get him....because i'm sure the Bears and Bucs are salivating and will most likely jump into the fray....but I hope the Jets at least inquire about his availability.
What would the price be for a wr with legal issues who wants to b traded? How many years and how much $$$ left on his contract?
I find it amazing that last year.. Cutler and Marshall were a solid combo which would be one of those duo's who lead the league in touchdowns over a certain few years. Now... both gone. I can't believe how bad shit has gotten in Denver so quickly. The Broncos forum is hilarious. People saying it's a good move as was trading Cutler. I hope they enjoy their 2-14 season and we'll see how good the moves were then.

McDaniels has destroyed the Broncos....if Marshall is traded....they'll be picking in the top 5 next year, IMO. I bolded this point in my earlier post...but to re-iterate...Marshall has caught 206 receptions in the last 2 seasons....the guy is built like a mack truck by WR standards, and can run like a gazelle. He catches everything. The Jets NEED to get this guy if he becomes available. His only downfall is...he can't stay out of trouble....but his production is totally worth it. I wouldn't be pissed if we signed Plax instead....but Marshall would be our long term answer and is a better option at that position. Provided that the Broncos' price isn't too steep.
I'dd still prefer Braylon Edwards b/c I think he'd be a star in NY and he'd come alot cheaper. I'm convinced w/ the right package we could send TJ to Cleveland for Edwards w/o giving up anything higher than a 3rd rounder.
He doesn't catch everything. I've seen him drop a handful of easy passes. That said, it's not too big of a problem and he is a beast.
First off, let me say that I hate Josh McDaniels...he's a huge douche bag...but picking in the top five next year won't be a bad thing for this team. Everything that Denver was building was knocked down when Jay Cutler was traded. Brandon Marshall doesn't even really matter anymore with Orton starting. Knowshon Moreno will now be the focal point of that team's offense...and he's a hell of a player. If the Broncos completely suck next year, which is very possible, picking the top of 2010's draft wil be awesome. I don't think they'll be as bad as the Chiefs and the Raiders, but it's not hard to be worse than either of those two teams. The Chargers basically have a free pass to the playoffs in 2010. Denver will have two picks in next year's draft - one will probably be in the top ten and the other will probably be around the mid-to-late first round. The Broncos can package those picks for a stud like Carlos Dunlap or the can sit still and grab two very, very good players for the second year in a row. The Broncos will be bad this year, but their future doesn't look too bad. Trading Jay Cutler was one of the worst trades in a long time - it sets them back at least three seasons.

Oh yea...you're right MB - completely slipped my mind. That was another move that McDaniels authorized that was very questionable - but Smith is a big time talent at corner, just a little short. This team has some good young players, but you can't trade a franchise quarterback and the rest of your offensive weapons. They have plenty of talent: Eddie Royal looked very good last season. Moreno will be a big time back. Ryan Clady is one of the league's elite tackles. Their defense has a lot good, young talent, but it will be hard for them to transition to the 3-4 quickly. Robert Ayers has all the makings of a big time 3-4 linebacker. They're not going to be good for a while, like they would've been with Jay Cutler as their QB, but they have some pretty good pieces for the puzzle.
McDaniels is banking on Smith being another Samuel wherein he is severely undersized, doesnt have great timed speed but has a knack for playing DB and can be an elite Ball hawk. Smith is hard not to like...but severe lack of size and speed as a starting CB is gonna be awfully hard to overcome at the NFL level.
