I agree. He did lead the jets in scoring and yards in preseason last year, but was hurt most of the season. He had only one catch.
Well he was drafted in the 5th(?) round by GB and didn't make it through training camp. At VT he (along with Royal, Morgan, and even Hyman) were underutilized by Steinspring. I watched plenty of practices at VT and saw Clowney slacking off and dropping passes. Maybe disappoint isn't the correct word, but I only used it because that was in the thread title
So how many WR do you thing will be in the 53 man roster? 5 or 6? Cotchery, Stuckey, Smith, Clowney, Wright and someone big (Whittaker?, Henry?) Someone wrote on a comment that Whittaker had been impressive all spring... where did you get that?
I'd say IMPRESSIVE over AMAZING. AMAZING belonged to Ataveus Cash receiving bombs from Tory Woodbury vs PHI.
Brad Smith has been a good player for us. I don't know why people hate on him so much. Maybe he'll break out as a receiver this year. His athleticism is scary if he does.
I don't hate him, but he does seem like a pretty good example of that old saying Jack of all trades, master of none.
Plax-Jets union now more likely Plaxico Burress | Giants | Interested: Buccaneers? Bears? Jets? Tim Graham of ESPN's NFC East blog writes that there is momentum gaining for Plaxico Burress to be signed by the New York Jets for the 2009 season. While his legal proceedings are likely to be adjourned until after the end of the upcoming NFL campaign, he could still face league suspension. Newsday's Bob Glauber has reported on his Twitter account that Burress' case has been adjourned to Sept. 23, and that Burress' attorney believes Plax will play in 2009. http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/feat...ttp://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/features/rumors That was posted today under rumors from espn, but I'm not sure if I really believe in this.
Hopefully the Clowney apostles will come to their senses, now. I still can't figure out why many fans annointed Clowney as a starter despite his ONE CAREER CATCH. I'm all for rooting for a fan favorite, I just can't figure out why that fan favorite isn't Chansi Stuckey.
It's good to know Smith & Stuckey are doing well. I'm hoping Clowney can pull it together because all of the Wrs have a huge opportunity & it's time for them to step up.
Clowney is a guy I'd really like to see succeed. He didn't start any games last year, and the only reception he had during the regular season was against Buffalo for 26 yards. Plus, he's from Queens; always glad to see a guy from Queens playing for the home team.
A lot of people forget that Coles and Cotchery both missed some games last season. I don't have the stats handy, but I don't believe there was much of a drop off in production when either one missed time due to injury. I would like an upgrade, but it's not the end of the season if we don't
