    per rotoworld:

Dustin Keller said that he escaped an attack by a "vicious stray pit bull" Sunday.
Keller broke the news on his Twitter account and insists he's "not stretching the truth one bit." He came away unharmed after jumping on a tall fence to escape the pit bull that had broken loose from its owner.

it would suck to have our best threat over the middle hurt from something so stupid.

I'm glad he was smart enough to jump on the fence. I would have been dumb and punted it in the throat.

Why do people even own pit bulls? They only like one person and hate everything else that breathes on the planet. They fuck shit up all the time and are fucking useless unless you use them for "guard dog" purposes I guess.

    Glad Keller is okay.

i have a pitbull. I raised it correctly. It would have done nothing but lick keller's face and hung around him all day.

Can these ignorant cocksuckers who own these dogs get a fucking clue on how to raise these animals. They give me a bad name. Shoot the owners on sight. Not the dogs.

    the owners, not the dogs.

The Vick dogs are now with families who have kids in preschool. They won't harm anyone because they were rehabilitated.

my dog has never even showed hostility towards anyone outside of my immediate family.

    that's the perception.

they are never seen in a positive light. Its always the bad. And they have become the "gang dog" as well. Which hurts the breed even more.

    its sad.

I don't blame you for thinking this way. I try to change the perception though. Then people won't go into the street when i'm walking the dog because they are afraid of him due to the other 95% of shitty pitbull owners.

i'd gladly go Pitbull Dog Owner Hunting, put all of these owners down, and put the dogs in better places.

It doesn't make the news when a pitbull licks your face.

I have a 106lb blue pit and 3 kids and my dog is as loving as any other dog I have ever seen. If someone broke in to my house he may bark but in the end he would only get mad if they took his bed. The person walking that dog is the real threat. People get pits and make them mean because they know what they are capable of. I have seen dachsunds and poodles that would take your ankle off.

many skumbag lowlifes dudes and thugs who cant afford to pay attention own pit bulls. they think they are untouchable because they own one or two. many train them to be killer dogs. many are good family pets. dont blame the dog blame the owner.

    glad keller is alright.

Kinda like who owns the biggest gun. Who has the meanest pit seems to be the order of the day. Its fckn sad that dogs are used as an extension of a person's personality. The dogs don't know nor do they care about anything other than pleasing their master. Humans are the problem here. I agree with Mick and the others..

I agree that Pitbull owners are in the end, are ultimately reponsible for how they behave. But let's look at it ths way. When was the last time you heard of a dog attack that occured, and wasn't a pitbull? These animals have the potential to kill. The problem is, there should be regulations and permits in order to own these dogs.

It's a dangerous breed in the hands of the wrong owner. They've been bred to fight for years so they are dangerous if the owner wants them to be. I think I agree with you on some kind of regulations as to who could own pits but what would they be and how would you enforce them?

These are the only stats I could find and they're outdated, but it's something.
    Code:
    Dog Breed Total Fatalities (1979-1998)

    Purebred Pit bull-type 66
    Purebred Rottweiler 39
    Purebred German Shepard 17
    Purebred Husky-type 15
    Crossbred Wolf-dog hybrid 14
    Mixed-breed 12
    Purebred Malamute 12
    Crossbred German Shepard 10
    Crossbred Pit bull-type 10
    Purebred Doberman Pinscher 9
    Purebred Chow Chow 8
    Purebred Great Dane 7
    Purebred Saint Bernard 7
    Crossbred Husky-type 6
    Rottweiler 5
    Crossbred Alaskan Malamute 3
    Crossbred Chow Chow 3

not to beat a dead horse, and at the risk of being entirely off topic; As a breed, pit bulls, are typically very timid. they don't "hate everything but their owner". they have loyalty, like all dogs to the pack. any dog can be vicious and cruel. its not the breed, its the person/people the dog is learning from. the only reason why pits are so feared is due to their jaw strength. you don't hear about akitas, but they are more a fighting breed than pits, and are typically more antisocial than pits with inbreed dog aggression. sure they can be social, but an unsocialized akita is more likely to attack another dog than a pit. but people rarely hear about that. just like was mentioned in this thread already, you don't hear about the millions of pits that are more of the "lick you to death" variety.

so on topic.... where is this guy living that he' gotta worry about scary pits? having some stupid mauling would not be a good start to a promising year.
