As of right now who do you think the starters will be come opening day? I am just making this thread to compare peoples opinions and to compare which person will be closer to the actual line up come opening day.
For all positions? Some of them are obvious. The less obvious ones, I'd say: Leonhard starts opposite Rhodes (less obvious because Eric Smith has received much acclaim thus far). Stuckey earns the #2 WR spot. Keller over Franks. Thomas and Pace both beat out Gholston. And finally, I think Sanchez will get the nod.
Yeah some of them are pretty obvious. I was just thinking in general the positions that you would like to fill in. I agree with you on most of those starts. I say Revis and Shepard Rhodes and Leonhard I think its a toss up between Stuckey and Clowney Keller over franks (i think that is the most obvious) I think clemens will be that starter for the first game with sanchez taking it away sometime not sure when.
idc who the starter is at qb opening day as long as they win. and if clemmens is the starter opening day then he better finish the season as the starter bc if he has to be replaced that means the season isnt going to well. or if he needs to be replaced it better be early so we can pull a 2002 with a vinny and chad
I know it's early, but at this point there is NO doubt in my mind that Kellen would give the Jets the best chance to win, and this team is still built to win now. But, of course, a lot will change between now and September. WR-Cotch and Burress (if we don't add a WR, Stuckey has the clear advantage right now) I also think Gholston will be starting over Thomas, but each of them getting a similar amount of playing time.
Clowney Ferguson Faneca Mangold Moore Woody Keller Cotchery _______________________Sanchez ____________________Richardson Jones ----------------------Rhodes Leonhard -----------------Gholston Scott Thomas Pace Shepphard--------- Ellis Jenkens Douglas ----------Revis After hearing Thomas being utilized as Adalius Thomas this is what I predict
yes, he is slow, useless in coverage and Bart Scott is a better version, he may be a smarter player than the other three but this will be a react defense so cerebral skill will not be as much of a priority
Yeah, but when Scott was signed Ryan sounded pretty excited about the versatility of Harris & Scott together. Then again, Ryan sounds pretty excited about everything so...
Offense: QB: Sanchez RB: Jones (Jones starts but Washington gets just as many touches) FB: Richardson WR:Cotchery WR:Stuckey LT: D'Brick LG: Faneca C: Mangold RG: Moore RT: Woody TE: Keller Defense: DE: Ellis NT: Jenkins DE: Douglas OLB:Gholston MLB:Harris MLB:Scott OLBace CB: Shepphard CB: Revis S: Leonhard S: Rhodes ST: KR: Washington PR: Leonhard K: Feely P: Hodges LS: Dearth
i agree here. as long as they win, the worst case scenario isn't anything to be worried about. i do see gholston starting the season on the bench, as with clowney.
right on except for Sheppard as the PR, its probably Jim Leonhard who will handle majority of the punt return duties.
Mangini/Sutton's defense was about reading the offense, changing responsibilities and doing exactly what you're told. Rex's defensive system has some key responsibilities but he lets the players react and be football players. Its less mentally strenuous and more instinctive. Many believe that it will benefit a guy like Gholston who is a physical freak... but his lightbulb is a little dim... Starters for 09 season. QB Sanchez LT D'Brick LG Faneca C Mangold RG Moore RT Woody FB Richardson HB Jones/Washington TE1 Keller TE2 Simmons WR1 Cotchery WR2 Clowney (would really like to see him in the two spot if he can perform well in the preseason again.) You really think Clemens has a chance to start? If this is a QB battle, Sanchez' contract represents him having a katana and samurai armor, while Kellen Clemens is naked, in a gladiator arena. Unless Clemens does something spectacular, or Mark stabs himself with his shiny new katana, Clemens is fucked.
hmy: Scott and Harris will probably complement each other well. Harris is smart and can hit like a truck, but Scott is more well rounded and can cover a lot better, and I assume since Scott is replacing Barton he'll be expected to drop into coverage more often than Harris. To think Rex would bench him if he's healthy is ludicrous.
