Not all because of Bruney, but if you lose your top two relievers (outside of Mo) to injury, you're going to have to patch things together a fair amount. There's really no way around that. And if you're going to your pen in the fifth inning, you're not really in a position to bitch about the pen... because you're going to be seeing the low leverage guys (like Tomko) brought in. And who is "everyone in baseball"? Because Swisher - despite the recent idiocy - is/was considered an average/above average corner outfielder... to the point that he played CF for the ChiSox last year. Damon isn't a CF anymore, but is a more than serviceable LF. Gardner and Melky are both fine in CF. Not great, but fine. You want to trot out small sample size for Bruney (by the way, 119 games isn't a small sample size, regardless of your non-assholish intentions), but you're going to base your judgment of the Yankee OF on a handful of games where you've seen a bunch of boneheaded plays. If the Girardi haters want to blame him for anything, it's for not having that shit nipped in the bud. Then again, I'm not sure what else he could do, especially for tonight's game with Damon being scratched. ETA: I mean, you DO realize there are no other outfielders on the bench, right?
Maybe not gone, but ur outmost disgust for a few of them is evident. Matsui is def not my fav. I like Gardner, Melky, Teix, & Cervelli. Agree with Damon. Love his bat, hate him on the OF.
Im not justs blaming the outfielders for a couple recent bonehead plays. Because im not just upset at the physical errors. More inportantly, iths the balls they just dont catch because as a group they do not cover ground well enough. If he cant get to it, he cant make an error on it right? That my bigger problem....then the arms which are disgraceful when Damon and Gardner are both out there on the same day.
