you know, if this was the end of the 2006 season, our positions would be switched around. You sound just like we used to. That Pennington is a man eater, isn't she?
Check Chad's history prior to his arrival in Miami. Chad plays smart football is crap. Now if you said Chad plays smart football against weaker opponents, you would be correct. He sure throws some stupid INT's for a smart guy. Still can't figure out why guys jump his quick out passes. But don't let me distract your praise for Chad. He sure is better than Cleo Lemon, Jay Fiedler, Gus Ferrotte, etc. By the way, didn't Chad throw an INT to Revis in the last play of your home opener last year? Just more proof.
Yet another Jet fans claim that Chad has to be the same player for everyone else cause he was for the Jets. Well Brett Favre took the Pack to the NFC title game in 07 why couldn't he even make the playoffs with the Jets in 08? I mean since we can make the assumption that what a player does for one team means he's destined to do the same everywhere he goes, why didn't Brett at least get the Jets to the playoffs? If you say Mangini, then why is it Brett is given an excuse for not succeeding in NY but Chad has no excuse? Yeah, you go ahead and look for another excuse.
So far he has been pretty much a mirror image on the Fins as he was w/the Jets. Consistently beat the poor defenses and struggle against the good ones. I see no evidence to suggest that he's been a different player with the Fins than he was w/the Jets. Why should we believe he will ever perform any differently?
Boy it's like a broken record in here, uh tell me wonder boy, how many INT's did Brett throw last year, hmmmm? Or do INT's by any QB other than Chad Pennnington become far less important to Jet fans? Funny how Jet fans continue to see all of Chads flaws, eve go so far as to remind every single Dolphin fan how awful he really was and how he will be for Miami. But do you notice while all the negative memories come flowing back to your one track minds, there's never a word about how many Ints Brett threw last year alone? Try 22, did you know that Chad has thrown only 62 int's in his entire career? That means Brett Favre threw more than a 1/3 of Chads career int total, 9 NFL seasons....IN ONE SEASON! MORE THAN A FRIKIN 3RD!!!!! Isn't that hilarious? Jet fans tell us how awful Chad is and the very player brought in to replace Chad, thorws more int's in his only season as a Jet, than Chad threw in three out of his last 4 seasons. Why aren't we talking about how Brett couldn't get the Jets to the playoffs, or how come we aren't talking about Bretts int's? Why is it only Chad's int's matter? Oh that's right cause Chads a Dolphin and he was successful, more successful than the guy brought in to replace him in NY. Well all I gotta say is thank god Chad wasn't the QB of the Jets last year, cuase if Chad would have been a Jet and had the same season Brett did, well we all know everything would have been Chads fault and Mangini wouldn't have taken nearly as much blame. Cause of course the Jets losing can only be blamed on Chad. Here we are into a new season and no one, not one Jet fan blames Brett for his 22 int's or the faiulure down the stretch or no playoffs, no Bretts immune to fault I guess. Glad to see Jet fans are honest with their view of their own team.
Uh huh, I see. So what about the rest of the offense? Did they play in that Ravens game? Was Chad the only player on the field during that game? Cause to listen to you explain how things went down against the Ravens, Chad was protected well by the Oline, had WR's open all day long and a rushing attack that gained 250 yards from the LOS. Chad just couldn't compse himself and just fell apart against a very beatable Ravens defense, is that about right? Just wondering what game you were watching, cause that's not what I remeber seeing, maybe you saw something different.
I saw a man who did exactly what he was doing in New York. He is what he is. Fandom makes us want him to be better than what he is. I did too. But Chad is exactly what we see.
chad took the 2004 jets within a decent kicker of the afc championship game. chad pennington took the 2005 jets where exactly? nice jab with the brett favre comparison though, very clever.
you really do sound like me and other jets fans circa January 2005. when chad is great, he looks like he can do no wrong. your defense of chad is his biggest weakness. he cannot win a game for a team. some qb's can deal with being pressured and hit all day with no running game to speak of. chad cannot do that. once you get him a bit rattled it's all down hill. once he loses the confidence to stand in the pocket and make his reads he will make some of the stupidest throws imaginable. that always has been, and always will be chads problem. no coaching staff will be able to change it.
Well until Chad fails to get the Dolphins deep into the playoffs and than falling apart multiple times I don't see how Chad is the same player for us he was for the Jets. Infact didn't Chad have the best season of his career as a Dolphin on top of heading into an off season without an injury or some sort of rehab? So wouldn't that already qualify him as not the same Chad that Jet fans keep trying to say he is? I understand Jet fans would really hate to see Chad succeed for the hated Dolphins where he couldn't for the Jets, but lets take the blinders off people you're starting to sound desperate.
I didn't know were discussing Favre in this thread? There are numerous others at nauseum about Favre. We were talking Chad's inability to beat quality defenses. If you read correctly, I never said Chad was awful. I said he was better than what you had in the past although he is not good enough to carry a team past a real good defense. The Jets fans here are hoping the Jets Defense morphs into a quality defense similar to what Baltimore had last season hence we should give Chad problems next season. I also thanked the Fish for helping Woody make the decision to fire Mangini. If you want, we can say Favre was a part of that as well. So he is gone. I'm more optimistic for a new coach, young talented QB and a kick ass defensive philosophy. All brought about by the Ryan regime. I'm sure Chad will do well against Buffalo next year. Enjoy!!
i still like chad, and really don't care how well he does with the phins assuming he doesn't win a superbowl with you guys(which he won't). it's really easy to root for chad. he is a great guy, great teamate, says all the right things. it blinded me to his shortcomings for years. it has blinded you as well, chad will get benched in favor of one of your young qb's before you finally take off your own blinders. that is a luxury i wish the jets had, sadly we had to watch chad until it was obvious he wasn't going to be anything more than what he already is.
Poor feelthepain – he has blind faith in that bag of pansy suck in the 10 jersey. It’s just pretty damn funny when it’s happening to a Phins fan.
Let me first tell you I was one of the most stout Pennington defender. (Ask other members here.) With that... I am happy to see Pennington succeed - he is a nice guy, a class act and true professional to the core. I honestly didn't like that Favre trade - I felt that Chad was going to have a big year for us last year, and from the performance of the OL, you could see Chad would have had a big year. Now... we all know what Chad cannot do - his ball lacks velocity more often than not. He cannot deliver to the tight spot because of that. In a way, his inability limits the offensive playcalling. But... is he going to be the same Chad Pennington that couldn't lead the team to the promised land? That I cannot say. The thing is, the past regime (Mangini regime) focused a lot more on what his players cannot do, than what his players excel at. That just applies to about everyone on the squad - you don't make Calvin Pace or Bryan Thomas cover Wes Welker or Ben Watson with a sane mind. Only a retard does that kind of dumb shit - and Mangini happens to be that dumb retard, which is why we all saw the shortcomings of Pennington more than we needed to. Know that, you guys have a real deal at QB. Pennington is a good QB, once he's given adequate protection with a functional running game. He will have his share of success and failure (but a lot more of success than failure) with you guys for the next few years, if you guys happen to lock him up.
Yeah, ain't nothin like putting the cart before the horse. Tell me, would you rather see Chad fail as a Dolphin or succeed as a Dolphin. If I had a guess, I'd say you hope he fails. Therefore I'm sure no matter what you think of Chad it sure does influence that opinion. It's almost as If Dolphin fans are sucked into the that loser menatlity by default. Unlike you, I don't need Chad to win a SB to consider him a success. I think just winning is a good thing, it sure as heck beats the hell out of losing.
Yeah I happen to think Chad getting protection is key to his success as with any QB. If you don't protect the QB they will not succeed no matter how strong their arm is. Miami wants to have a dominant line. I don't think Chad ever had a dominant line as a Jet. I don't think Chad is better than he is. I think he's smart a good leader and good decsision maker. He has to be you aren't the the leader in completion% in the entire history of the league without those qualities. Protect him and I don't care how good the other team is Chad will win games, as would most QB's.
Well imma point out that I saw that dolphin vs. Ravens game and some of those interceptions thrown were with little pressure.....but yea the jets have a whole new attitude, we are going to be a nasty defense (people forgot that before we hit that wall towards the end of the season and a few hiccups along the way our defense was one of the best WITH A HORRIBLE DEFENSIVE SCHEME) we have the personel to be great esspecially with the additions we have made, we just have to be used correctly. Our running game is going to be crazy, with the best O-line in the AFC and one of the top in the league and with a great stable of backs our rushing attack is going to be better than last year. Whether we have Kellen or Sanchez at QB it wont matter, because we wont have to rely on the qb. Our offense was cut very short last year because favre couldnt handle it but now were going back to what we did well. Now im sorry but the dolphins do not have better personel than the Jets i refuse to admit that.....as far as coaching, thats still up in the air because we dont know how Ryan will coach but I like what I see. As far as Crowder saying games arent won in the offseason hes nuts.....Teams are made in the offseason and its the work that they do then that will translate on the field later......
Well head to head the Dolphins played better than the Jets in 08. Like I said the Dolphins upgraded their talent more than the Jets this year and our coach has the advantage till proven otherwise.
Of course the rest of the team played poorly. What I saw though, was the worst player on the field that day had a #10 Dolphins jersey on. The fins were over matched and the Ravens clearly had the better team. Anyone could see that even before the game. I can't believe this argument is happening on TGG still. Are you trying to get Junc to come back?
