Only necessary if you feel the need to question what I say, which you shouldn't.

If it were in question, I wouldn't say it.

I just noticed the dates in the thread title. Scik, you're a rabbit's foot for this team, but you need to put down the drink before you post.

this is bullshit, Hughes is going to the pen and Wang to the rotation. Stunting his development, i'm pissed.

i'm of the camp where i just don't care anymore what they do. Joba to pen, Hughes to pen, Pettitte to pen. Hell we're going to have 5 good starters in there regardless. Even a 6 man rotation wouldn't make me mad. It's a great, great problem to have.

Saw it a little while ago on ESPN News ticker. Wang is expected to start tomorrow (if tonight's game doesn't get rained out) and Hughes is getting moved to the pen.

Yes. Cashman says it's a temporary bullpen fix, according to Abraham.

I hope this does not hurt Hughe's development at all.

I'm of two minds on this:

    1. Hughes has little left to prove at AAA. At this point, it seems like everything left that he needs to learn would happen at the majors. (Possible exception: They don't feel his changeup is ML-ready yet. I don't think this is the case, though.)

    2. He needs innings. His career high is 146, and I'm sure they'd like to get him to around 170-180 if they can. He has around 55 innings right now.

I'm just not sure why it wouldn't be better to call up Melancon. I guess if they're planning to use Hughes as a long man out of the pen, it makes sense. ETA: Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if Hughes just sticks around long enough to make sure Wang isn't going to get knocked out in the second inning again. If Wang looks good for a start or two, he'll probably head back to Scranton.

I said I wanted Hughes in the pen as far back as spring training. That's where he's going to get the best opportunity to develop. He'll get opportunities to pitch against pro hitters in smaller spurts. I think this is a great move.

Plus it helps the pen, which isn't a bad thing at all.

Pretty shitty start to Pettitte's night. Now score 13 and don't worry about it.
