Roster Moves--From Rod Boone (Update, 5 p.m.): Paging Jimmy Shnoogen. This is for you ... The Jets have announced they've waived FB Brannan Southerland. The Georgia product was originally signed as an undrafted free agent May 1.
I apologize if this was already posted. Not sure how newsworthy this is......but i believe there was some talk on the board regarding this guy being groomed to replace Richardson at the FB position in the near future. Too bad he didn't pan out....I wonder what happened. http://m.nyjets.com/news/articles/show/2992-fullback-southerland-waived
Noooooooo!!! He had health problems (broken foot) but I hoped they just gave him time to recover... I really thought he could at least make the PS.
http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=45728 There's very minimal discussion going on there. The thread title doesn't have Sutherland's name in it, so it's easy to miss
He was a fullback and Tony Richardson can still play.....dime a dozen. I wouldn't be surprised if he's a Jet again in the next year...
Hmm. I had high hopes for the guy keeping in mind he is a FB and they get about 15 plays a game. But he was considered a draftable prospect. I think its got to be the injury.
It's the least important position in football, not really a big deal, if he was worth keeping around they would have kept him.
You do know your nickname is DraftaFB right ? Anyways in a run first team I think it's quite an important position...
Some random guy on thejetsblog.com says that Southerland asked to be released due to pain in his foot. Who knows how much truth there is to it?
