Now I know I haven't been a member of this board very long... but does this guy ever say anything worthwhile?
We don't need a backup QB. If Clemens, Sanchez, and Ainge all suck or get hurt, we are screwed. There's no FA QB on the market that is going to save us in that situation.
You still haven't accepted the fact that Sanchez is our QB? You pulling for Kellen Clemens is equivalent to the band playing on the sinking Titanic.
Another factor. I am not saying I dislike Ainge. Don't really know enough about him to be against him, but even if they want to move Sanchez along at a reasonable pace, Sanchez will still likely be the backup to Clemens. And if Ainge sucks and if things get too tight in an individual game they can use Smith, up to a point - I don't think they (or we) want to see Smith slinging it down the field. But the worst case scenario of Clemens going down, them not wanting to play Sanchez, Ainge crapping the bed, they can use Smith a bit. I don't see the team signing anybody at Qb. Watch me be wrong.
It'll either be Sanchez or Clemens as backup going into the season, and if we get down to our 3rd string QB, we're fucked anyway. I don't know why this is a discussion.
You know, for a guy like sec314 who was really high on Clemens and thought he should be the starter for this team just a few weeks ago...I'm surprised that now he doesn't think he can even do a good enough job backing up Sanchez. Did I miss something? Why has he soured on Clemens so fast?
Funny stuff guy, thanks for all the compliments, you know what I am saying, Clemens will the starter and Sanchez will show he's not ready yet. Can you guys even consider that he will need a year or 2 before he's ready? Is that worthwhile? I
No team is confused enough to trade up to draft a QB at #5 and then doesn't even let him back-up the incumbent. Your argument is stupid.
No team is stupid enough to have a rookie QB be your backup if he's not ready and be one hit away from you losing you starter and ending the season. I hope both QB's look great and its a moot point , but its not a guarantee that Sanchez will be ready to start or backup. We know they feel comfortable with Clemens backing up if that's the case. He we go, the put downs begin, I raised the possibility that the great one might not be ready.
If there was a good QB out there, better than the guys they have, they would have picked him up long ago. Most teams are in their OTAs. It's not like a new guy (free Agent) can step in and learn all the plays. A QB needs to know all the plays and what the other 10 players are supposed to be doing. It is the main reason why NFL teams don't wanna use Rookie QBs. When they do that they are forced to not use 1/2 their playbook.
You're wrong. Completely. I wonder if you even think about your posts. Please name the last team in the past 10 years that drafted a rookie QB in the top-10 and didn't have them listed as backup? Name a single one.
if ainge is cut look for a vet to be brought in. losman or grossman could be viable options depending on the jing they will demand.
