http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_y...slug=ms-thegameface052209&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Nice article on the attitudes comming out of the Pats former employes. Seems like Mangini was a lot more abrasive towards his players then I thought. That explains why were seeing so many articles about guys enjoying football again. Hopefully our guys start playing like they want to win instead of like they are afraid of making mistakes this year.
Isn't it funny how quickly the press can turn on you when you don't win? Since 2006 Mangini has gone from Mangenius to paranoid control freak with a sub-.500 record in the eyes of many reporters.
Mangina was an order taker for BB on the Pats defense. He saw $$$$$ and thought he could handle a HC gig.Jets found out he was no BB.
Yea, but we cut our losses pretty quickly with the guy. His time was def. up in NY, I think the players are really happy he's gone and it doesn't seem that anyone was really sad to see he was fired. Maybe they're just really excited about Rex
Why wouldn't players love Ryan. He's got his dad's personality. We're the best, and we're gonna cream the opposition! He talks big and likes cocky players who talk big. As long as the team can back it up, he'll be loved in NY. The trouble with this type of coach is they have a definite shelf life. They eventually wear on ownership and management. But if he's successful for 3 or 4 years, who cares what happens 5 years down the road.
All good points, although I think Rex is slightly more down to earth than his father and much more relaxed. I think he's a boom or bust type. Maybe not in the same sense as a Herm edwards (who didn't know much about X's and O's and game management yet was a heckuva motivator) but rather due to his cockyness and lack of offensive knowledge offset by a profound defensive mind and a charismatic personality. It'll surely be entertaining either way!
Mangini's interpersonal skills are good enough to get hired as a HC twice without a very impressive body of work. Its not everybody that can be such a dick and pull that off.
Phil Dawson is also unhappy with his contract.... i just don't see this team pulling together and doing anything. its going to die out quickly when mangini calls out players in the middle of halftime meetings again. His "principals office" won't go over well with these guys either. The Browns are the Browns - more garbage seasons coming up for them.
