Actual quote: "This is how I feel -- if you want to see the Pittsburgh Steelers [ranked #1], [rank] us [#1] when we don't win the Super Bowl. As far as I'm concerned, he [Kirwan] would've [ranked] Arizona [#1] if they had won," said Harrison.
Harrison's an idiot. He turned down appearing at the White House the other day because "he only invited us because we won, if Arizona had won he'd have invited them instead". Duh...
Now they are saying it's because he has a fear of flying http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/sh...g-the-reason-Harrison-refused-?urn=nfl,164765
(without checking the link) - So did Steelers not play a game outside Shittsburgh? No away games? Or did he used to drive outside Shittsburgh? What a jerk!
I heard that too but no matter what the reason is I'm glad he's out of the MNF booth. Gruden is going to do a good job I think.
There are so many problems with this ranking I could go on for days. Year in and year out, the talking heads will eat crow and come up with excuses as to why they overestimated or underestimated so and so, blah, blah, blah..... It's all just talk. At least wait until the 53 man roster is set. My BILLS are getting even less respect, and they have arguably the best receiving corp in the NFL right now. BILLS bashing starts in 3...... 2....... 1.........
I would agree with Fitz/Q being top dogs for best 1-2 combo. I'm talking about the entire corps of WR's, but like I said, it's debatable. My point is that last year, the BILLS ranked preseason at #21. They moved into the top 5 after they went 5-1. We all know how they choked after that. Rankings don't mean shit to me. The only thing I care about is W-L record. Let the JETS get into the season and see how they pan out. Ryan could be great, or he could be another example of a DC that can't make the transition to HC. Sanchez has question marks and most probably won't be starting out of the gate. Your D is solid and will keep games close all season.
Not to Bills-bash, but a fine WR corps is like about #9 on the list of things you need to win in the NFL, with a fine QB #1.
I couldn't agree more. Trent Edwards either has his breakout year, or he proves he's not NFL starter material. Not to mention he's getting thrown to the wolves with TO in town. If he can make it work, he'll deserve the praise, especially since there's talk of running the No-Huddle again, which puts our play calling responsibilities more on the QB rather than our coaching staff.
The value of a fine WR corps was never displayed more vividly than last year when Fitzgerald and Boldin finally got to a playoff game after playing together for years because they finally got paired with a great QB. It's amazing how many people think that having a great WR means anything in the NFL at all. It really doesn't. That's why the Lions were able to draft top 10 WR after top 10 WR and get worse and worse until they finally found a GREAT WR in the top 10 and then went 0-16. The same is true for CB's and for the same reasons, which are that a great CB or even two of them will not shut down a great QB. A great pass rush? That'll do the trick but the corners are of almost no value without the rush.
When will people realize that NFL rankings are completely and utterly meaningless. To get upset about some ranking given to the Jets is irrational and silly. Rankings are only important in college football, where they determine who plays in the BCS games. The NFL actually has division winners and wild card playoff teams based on performance on the field. Then the Super Bowl winner is determined based on who actually wins the playoff games, not who somebody thinks will win. Worry about what happens on the field, not some reporters arbitrary meaningless stupid rankings in a sport where rankings do not belong.
Its not about the rankings. Its about dissing the Jets... I could honestly care less about a meaningless ranking, but I do care when we get dissed like this without any valid points.
Well, when we don't collapse and go 1-4 down the stretch then you earn better preseason rankings. It's still quite meaningless however.
Are you saying its all about the last 5 games that determine a ranking, even though ur QB was injured and ineffective? If so, what about the Cards? They should have been in the top 5 to say the least.
If they said we have no proven QB, a week WR corp and one of the worst pass defenses in the league you wouldn't feel dissed?
