    Scoreless in the 11th now.

I think this is a new high for this season.

Arizona-Florida playing a doubleheader today to make up for Monday. They were in the 4th when they decided to postpone the game.

Hurt Arizona because it cost Haren a start. He threw three innings for nothing and now he can't pitch for a few days. The way they're playing, they need as many starts out of Haren as possible.

Eric Byrnes was a terrible signing for Arizona. They had much bigger holes than outfield and he's been lousy since they paid him.

He's making 11 and two thirds million this season and he's not even starting now. They brought up a minor leaguer named Parra instead.

    There are two leagues.

Fireworks in Oakland on Saturday night!

On Saturday, May 23, all fans in attendance are welcome to enjoy post-game fireworks.

Following completion of the game, fans will be invited to watch the sky high display from the outfield grass.

I wanted to post the following earlier this month, but didn't want to get bitched at in case this was supposed to be the National League thread. But, fuck it. I'll make this thread be whatever I want it to be.

So much for the Sports Illustrated jinx, huh? I always tell people it is a bunch of nonsense. There is no jinx. For every one player or team who appears on the cover and sucks that next week, there are at least three times as many who continue to do good. Zack Greinke was recently on the cover and then threw a couple game shutout.

All kinds of stuff going on in the Red Sox game tonight.

David Ortiz finally hit his first home run tonight in the 5th inning.
Varitek has 2 HR tonight, and the Sox hit 4 in that 5th inning.
Jacoby Ellsbury broke the team record and is one away from the Major League record for putouts by an outfielder in a game. He has 11 through 6 innings.

    Umm, okay.

So is Minor League Baseball one league, too?

You helped run nyjunc off the board because you kept pointing out his grammar and typographical errors. This bothers me because there is now one less clown here for amusement purposes.

It's one, unless one is being a semantic douche. It's just like the conferences in the NFL except they decided to name them something different. For a normal person who isn't trying to be an asshole, Major League Baseball is a single entity with it's teams divided into two groups for playoff purposes, just like the other 3 major sports.

In other news, Ellsbury ended up tying the ML record for putouts on the last play of the game.

No, it's not quite like the NFL conferences.

As for being an asshole and getting on people about typos and spelling mistakes, Yisman is the king of this at TGG. I don't have beef with the guy at all. I am merely pointing out a mistake. It's annoying to see the title of this thread. I truly don't know what league we are talking about with this thread.

So you're going to harp on this for months like you did with "Yankess"? Shouldn't you be out threatening to quit the board for the 234,254th time?

And honestly, if you can't figure out that the thread refers to all MLB teams (with the probable exceptions of the Mets and Yankees who have their own threads) then you might have bigger problems than being annoyed by a thread title.

You don't quite get it. Look at when I started on this bit. Remember what happened around that time.

It's more that I don't quite care. This is your "thing", I get it. You like to harp on little things like this. Why I don't know, but for some reason you enjoy it. Honestly I don't know when you started this because you were on ignore until recently. In the end it doesn't really matter (to me anyway) why you started it, I'm more interested in when you will end it.

BCS. I like having junc here. It amuses me.

I didn't run him off of anything. I was not involved in his banishment and subsequent tantrum. The last time I was involved, IIRC, was in March.

As for this, it can be said both ways. I could ask a mod to add an S to make the "around the leagues", but either way is fine.

I believe he started to lose his bearings when you kept pointing out his typos, which I thought was funny.

Maybe so, but I refuse to be blamed for his departure.

He couldn't handle things, so he took his ball and went home, as they say.

There are several reasons for him leaving, but the most prominent one was that he could not handle being suspended.

Whatever. I didn't really want to comment on the junc mess, because there's nothing really there. If he comes back, fine. If he doesn't, I don't think the board will overly suffer.
