In this regard, I'd agree. I think Facebook has the advantage of slightly more in-depth communication between people who actually know each other, though, making it more broadly viable. The fact that twitter can be operated one way makes it a lot better for getting information about athletes, etc.
If I wanted to talk to hundreds of people on the phone about everything, that might be an option. Facebook lets me easily communicate with people I don't really see or talk to very often anymore. I will admit, though, a phone would be a much better option if I only spoke to my mother.
