I hate to butt in with some logic but you're saying Russell can't win a tight game down the stretch. Isn't that exactly what he did against your beloved Jets and their HOF QB last year in only his 6th career start? (ducks)
There, fixed that for you  Jeaux's actions could create far more havoc than you may realize
If by "down the stretch", he meant the end of the season and into the playoffs, I'd hardly think that Week 7 qualifies. If he means that Russell can't win tight games period, you're right. He was the entire offense on that final OT drive against us.
I don't have anything against you but you do know that "young" is just one half for building a dynasty...? The other half is "talented" and I don't think you have much of that. The problem with the Raiders philospohy, IMHO of course, is that once you could just outpower your opponents physically and build a winning team. Now though there is so much more to being a professional athlete and pure speed, strength, height and stuff like that isn't going to bring you anywhere by itself. DHB, Russell and many others are all physical freaks but what about their instincts, what about their head, what about the speed in analyzing the defense? Sometime ago the game was somehow easier to understand and you could win by being a freak-of-nature... now unless you are Usain Bolt any defense (well, maybe not the Lions) will figure out a way to stop you.
I'm not saying that. I said he's going to have to have more than a few of those games next year and wins in order to validate that the guy is truly worth 1st overall pick money. Joe simply thinks that the Raiders will run the ball, but what happens if the Raiders are down by 17 at the half? You're gonna keep running the ball? Things don't always work out the way Joe thinks they are, so, if he thinks Russell won't have to do much this season, he's out of his mi... hmy:
I know i'm splitting hairs here, but driving your team down the field just enough to set up your kicker for a Franchise record 60+yd FG isn't necessarily the best scenario to bank on the win.
I don't remember him completing those bullets to Walker and Miller in overtime. I'll have to go back and look at the tape again...
I read that to mean that he can't win tight games. Which is interesting because he won a lot of tight games in the 4th quarter in college and pulled it off a couple of times last year too...
I know, just thought it was ironic that a Jet fan would say he can't win a tight game at the end because if there's one Raider game everyone on this board watched last year it was the Jet game, and that's exactly what he did.
I hear you, it drives me nuts when people talk about Brady's 4th quarter comebacks when so many of them were predicated on getting a couple of first downs against a prevent defense to set up the best clutch kicker in football. But they still count...
I remember that game very well. The Raiders really tried to give us that game. They did. We just didn't want it. And it could've helped down the stretch. We'll see what happens this time around. I'm looking forward to it.
The guy led his team back from 10 points down in the fourth quarter against tampabay on the road. Raiders are going to run the ball alot next season. Raiders Wrs are not going to catch majority of their passes. That will be their TE zach miller and RB darren Mcfadden. Jamarcus Russell can throw that bullet 15-30 yards down the seam with his eyes closed. What russell going to have to do is hit a couple of those deep bombs. Thats going to open up the whole raider offense. Again Raiders have alot of explosive players now and can pretty score very fast from anywhere. Mcafadden pass could go for six points. Dhb get behind a defense it could go for six. Dhb clears out the safety and zach Miller works his magic in the middle. (zach miller had more 20 + yards gains than any TE in football last year. ZThey can use DHB coming around on a handoff.(potentially go for six) You could see raiders wildcat. D Mcfadden at QB. M Bush and D mcfadden in backfield Te xach miller and DHb and Chaz Schielns at Wr. Alot tougher than dolphins wildcat.
First off raiders wr corps was severly depleted that game. ( Only WR they had was banged up Javon walker) lowery made him look like a superstar. They had one healthy RB (m Bush) . Their Offensive tackles were two of the worst protecting the QB. Raiders didn't even have their top pass rusher and yet they hit b favre everytime he threw the ball. Thats not good as Jets will jhave the same exact Oline. Jets Wrs couldn't get any seperation from raiders cb. That was with L coles. This time I don't expect this game to be close. raiders win going away.
I'm sorry...correct me again if I'm wrong....Didn't we actually have to trade UP to get ahead of you in the draft? Now neither one has a HOF QB.. who do you think will actually have the better QB this year? (and right now no one knows who our starter is, but in that three horse race, the pillsbury throwboy runs dead last....)
Dude,Right now...Leon Washington is a more Valuable Player than McFadden. And unlike McFadden He's got a good offensive line, AND Thomas Jones (only the AFC's LEADING rusher) but now Monster Shonn Green to wear down defenses.... After 3 quarters of pounding, Leon will be able to take screens the distance. Dustin Keller can take LB's for 6. And he's not a rookie anymore..... Wildcat? Thats for pu$$!e$. But...If you were to run it, having McFadden pitch is less frightening than having Brad Smith dump a screen in the flat to Leon.
