http://www.nfl.com/videos/new-york-jets/09000d5d810642f4/Clemens-or-Sanchez Video of Schott discussing the KC vs MS competition. What struck me was how similar these two QBs are, both from the tape and what Schott was saying about them. I think the only good thing he said about MS but not also about KC was about Mark's ability to fake pump the defense.
One positive about them being similar is that we are clearly mindful of our system, which is a good thing. There is a crucial difference between them, unfortuantely. Clemens, even in that video, is often thinking, not playing, and that's never the impression I get from Sanchez, though he is one intelligent mother fucker. To be honest, Clemens WAS a playa. When Clemens came in against Balt he made some ballsy decisions. I remember after that game someone asking him abuot managing the game better or something and he said, "that's not really how I play the game," and I was like fuck ya... then Mangini beat it out of him. There was a quote at some point earlier this spring of Clemens asking Rex, "how do you want me to act in the huddle?" and jeez if that isn't a woodie deflator. Sanchez is the gunslinger that Clemens was before Mangini. Thankfully, I think he'll thrive under Rex and who knows, maybe Clemens gets his groove back. One thing I will say: I love Clemens in the 2-minute (in real games, at least). As for the video: I love a QB who has the patience to set himself and go for the home run while scrambling.
Excellent video. KC was mind blowing on that one play stepping away from the rush. That was actually unbelievable since he timed the move to perfection. Its almost like he knew the play. And a good pass on the move too. Dirty Sanchez had a good fake, but I believe the OL sold that play. Nevertheless, he also showed excellent awareness on that one drop back and pass. Both have good footwork and awareness IMO. KC knows the offense and I would hand him the ball first before letting a rookie QB take the snap. Let the rookie learn unless KC stinks it up.
Nice summary Vilmatic. Schott also said that Sanchez had talent that you just can't coach , knowing where the pressure is coming from without looking at it and keeping eyes down field , now add a 'Burresstype home run' into the mix and thats a great asset.
