That was a little hairy. Yikes. But just goes to show... you don't need to be lights out to get the job done from the pen.
Hopefully, they keep it rolling against the Orioles. Interesting side note I just noticed... Yanks have won six in a row and eight of the past nine, and the resident Negative Nancy hasn't posted once in that time period. What's up with that? Has his absence inspired the Yanks to victory? Or does he only find nourishment in defeat and despair, and so sees no reason to contribute? Either way, keep up the good work, guys. Bruney's back tomorrow, and CC's on the mound. Hopefully, Veras and Edwar are shown the door in the not too distant future, and Robertson and Melancon are brought back up.
What's with Marte? He still on the team? He was at one point a reliable reliever... The bullpen is unbelievably shitty.
I still think Marte can/will be an effective option out of the pen. He pitched hurt, and last year pitched better than his line.
Hopefully this happens in the next couple days: Tomorrow: Jose Veras DFA'd for Brian Bruney Wednesday: Edwar Ramirez optioned down to AAA for David Robertson (only reason I put this off till Wed is that Robertson pitched 2 innings tonight) EDIT: Didn't think of this till now, Berroa could get the axe also
I'm in agreement with all of that. I think Edwar can still get his act together, but Robertson has performed every time he's gotten an opportunity here. Veras has to go. Even Sterling and Waldman were saying last night that they have no idea why the Yankees are so concerned with not losing him. I don't even know why Berroa is still here. Will Hughes get sent down for Wang? That's a question Sterling/Waldman discussed last night. I would assume so, since there won't be a regular rotation spot for him. I just hate shuttling him back and forth. ------------ Great series by the Yankees. Jonnyd turning out to be sage-like with his turnaround call. Hopefully they'll keep it up. It's nice to see Tex and Alex getting on the ball now. Keep it up Yanks!
