Damn. I must have been mistaken to think that Shonn Greene was a power back. I think he was probably the best back in the draft

This is stupid stuff. This is how rumors start. Its a " This is what I would do if I was a GM" article and it turns into the Jets are thinking about. Even the title by the poster fools you. Someone tell me, WHO THE HELL IS GONNA RUN THE BALL IF WE GET RID OF TJ.... FOR A TEAM THAT WHAT'S TO RUN THE BALL. WHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Find me a replacement for him first, and then talk to me. In fact, don't, just let it work itself out. Where's he gonna go? Let him sit out to the 1st pre-season game is over, who cares, he's in great shape and knows the offense.

That seems shaky seeing it in print.

TJ and a 5th and a conditional 4th (escalating to a 3rd if he can haul in 60+ passes) for Chad Johnson. And even THEN the price is a little steep.

Yes I agree with you that it is a purely what if I was a GM article. But if we didn't have articles like this what would be doing on these forums. At least it got people talking and made some peoples blood boil. If I and other people didn't post these articles in the offseason then these forums would be alittle light on content.

Do exclamation marks work on a direct or exponential basis? I mean, was that WHO meant to be read at 22 times the standard volume, or 10 ^ 22 times? Either way, that is quite the emphatic statement. I would say question, but I don't see a question mark. Actually, given that it's a statement, I'm wondering who this new running back named Who The Hell is. I can't find any information on him, but you seem to very passionately believe that he's gonna run the ball. I applaud your ebullience, but I wonder if perhaps you've attached yourself too firmly to some short lived tryout kid who was obviously only brought in for his name and subsequent ability to sell PSLs.

As far as the article, yes. It's garbage. The sad thing is, it's actually been posted all over every major sports outlet today. Guys like Lombardi aren't going to stop phrasing their bullshit conjecture as possibility until those media outlets quit quoting them. Sadly, since we all jump on every one of them and discuss them ad nauseam, I don't see that end coming.

Thomas Jones is a back that is exceptionally talented in one facet of his game; staying healthy. Besides this he lacks blazing speed, impressive agility, anything beyond serviceable skills as a receiver, and the power he runs with is a lot less than you would expect with a guy having his build. He was crap in 2007 and then good with 2008 when the oline was rebuilt and the QB was more respectable. He's a back that takes what the offensive line gives him, but doesn't create anything on his own. I personally think it's a crime Leon isn't more involved in that offense.

He's a beneficiary of the talent around him, not a man that carries the team. He's a good player, not a great one. He wants to be paid above his skill level and I think trading him or denying this request are exactly how you go about handling this.

I agree with all of that except the part about being a mediocre receiver. I think TJ is very effective in the passing game, I would actually prefer to have TJ be the third down back then Leon. I know Leon is faster but he's useless as a pass blocker and always will be due to his size. It would be better to have TJ in there doing some real blocking and he is a good receiver.

I gotta say that I believe you are right on with all of this.

TJ rarely breaks any tackles and always seems to go down after first contact.
