Nice! I wonder if he will talk about them wanting Plex if he clears up his legal stuff. Should be a very entertaining chat!
His Goal is to win the Super Bowl and to win it every year he coaches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....that's a cockiness we havent seen here before
http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-total-access/09000d5d810496fd/Coach-Feature-Rex-Ryan Here's a link to the interview on NFL.com from NFLTA Never thought I'd have a man crush on a grey-haired 300 pound guy... But seriously, I think he's going to be an awesome head coach. He definitely has the right attitude.
Indeed... I don't want to be overly optimistic, but after the Mangini Era... Its hard not to be. Rex is everything football should be about... even if we lose, I know our guys are going to come out and play hard for him every game... and I know our chances the next week are going to be good no matter what happened on sunday... I want to win, don't get me wrong, and I think our chances under Rex are better... but there are a couple other important aspects of the game too... and I think Rex is going to bring a few things that the team has lacked for a while... Chemistry Fun Playing to the players strengths, instead of primarily the opponent's weaknesses... And last but certainly not least blood-thirst... the desire for our Defense... and Shonn Greene to go out every Sunday and knock some heads... Mangini even when he won, most of the time, it didn't really feel that good... as much as some Jets fans were saying WHOO subway superbowl, we can do it.... I just had this eerie feeling after every game... like I knew it was too good to be true...
Didn't Mangini say the same thing about player's strengths? Or was that about their strengths fitting his scheme?
I don't know... I think I've watched every single press conference during the mangini era, and I don't recall him saying that was a focus of his. I'm sure at one point or another that every head coach says "oh yeah, well of course we're going to play to our guy's strengths." Mangini was primarily a game planner, and he wasn't very quick at thinking on his feet. He would come in with an excellent first-half plan, and then after the team came back after half time he wouldn't make the necessary adjustments. The difference with Rex, is that its a focal point of his, to play to his player's strengths. He's an expert at giving the right guys the right responsibilities and playing into that... We saw it his whole time at Baltimore. Suggs was a potential bust at one point like Gholston, and Rex Ryan took it upon himself as his project and turned him into a more than solid pass rusher...
I really like this coach he seems comfortable saying what's on his mind and I have no doubt it will filter down to the team. I sure hope the Jets have a dominating defense at some point that would be fun to watch. Mangini just never had this kind of confidence and it showed in his game planning and game calling. That last game against Seattle was horrible to watch...letting Seneca Wallace beat you. Seneca Wallace!!!!!!
