Any guesses on what this will be like? Based on what Stafford got, we are going to get raped here with the money he will be demanding 6 years $65 million, $30 million guaranteed...what do you think?
He'll get slightly less than the #4 overall pick and slightly more than the #6 overall pick. Last year #5 overall got a 5 year $50 million Dollar deal w $22mm guaranteed. Sanchez will probably get a little more than that.
..there are over 500 facebook pages for Mark Sanchez... I couldn't find one to contact him directly..
He's going to get the going rate for a QB taken in the top 10, which is more than for any other position at the slot he's in. I'm going to guess that he gets Stafford's contract minus 10% at the most. That would be 66 million, with 37 million guaranteed.
That rule does not usually stick with QB's. Last year Matt Ryan got maoe then any player in the draft at the #3 slot.
Worse than the negativity would be the long term impact on our cap. The negativity would be absurd though.
Get ready for it. I think Sanchez will be at least a good NFL QB in the long term, but look what the fans did to D-Brick as he developed, and is still developing. With all the hype, if Sanchez doesn't throw 35 TD's and win the Super Bowl, a lot of folks will be screaming BUST!!!!!
See that? Perfect example of why there should be a rookie salary cap. The Raiders gave him a potential $68 million contract and you don't even know his name is Jamarcus, that's how much he sucks. Having Al Davis around is like watching the Muppet show. That little cackling dude always blew something up. On the flip side, if there were a rookie salary cap, I think Sanchez sticks around USC for his senior year.
Actually, it wasn't so much the money that Mark didn't stick around for his senior year...he was spooked by that freak knee injury he suffered through all last season. Mark had two life goals when he entered USC....to graduate and fulfill his life-long dream of playing in the NFL. Mark did not want to risk further injury before achieving his dream. The freak injury doesn't happen....Mark would be at USC next season.
Hardly. I would say he was a tough kid. Quite a few late hits that be bounced right back up from. He played through that knee injury without complaint, and it did not occur on the field, but rather while working out on the sidelines during practice.
