I wasn't a doubter for years, but enough is enough. Johan Santana could be on our team right now.

money aside, because you cant give me the bullshit line that the Yankees were worried about giving Santana the money because , well, look how they spend money. Hughes, Kennedy and Melky...and as some Cashman supporters like to insist on, one other "prospect for Santana is easily the dumbest trade we never made. FUCK. BRIAN. CASHMAN.

The Twins were trying to screw over the Yanks from what I remember. The Yanks had a better offer on the table then the Mets did. They probably didn't want him in the Al, which is fine. Stop bitching and moaning about Santana. Yeah hes a great pitcher, how many world series did the Twins win with him. The Mets still choked last year.

I'll chalk up your exaggeration to extreme frustration or stupidity. Your call.

Jesus Christ, guys... are you really going to write off a 22-year-old pitcher based on his two most recent starts? Never mind that the Boston start was the one where Girardi was ejected because the strike zone for Hughes was the size of a peanut, and that this one owes at least a few of those runs to shitty defense... you don't write off a kid this young unless you're mentally handicapped. You. Just. Don't.

I mean, you all get this, right? Please tell me you're just pissed about this game, and aren't really writing him off as a bust.

Johan Santana is not the reason the Twins never won a World Series and the Mets choking was not Santana's fault

ok you're right. I dont want Santana because the Twins never won a world series with him. Great post.

And yes Cappy, I am comfortably on the "bust" side of the Hughes argument. No doubt about it.

    Stop being greedy. :shit:

A-Rod, Sabathia, A.J Burnett, Teixeira, Damon, Matsui....The Yankees have the best team money can buy and over the years...You all have signed other big name free agents such as Sheffield, Giambi, Tino Martinez, Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, Pudge along with other players so lets stop crying over spilt milk because the Yankees never signed "Santana", Big deal.

You all will never be the dynasty that you were during the middle 90's/early 2000's without a solid farm system. Teams like the Rays and Red Sox will be great for years to come and lets not blame the Rays having a top farm system because of top picks because the Red Sox have been doing amazing.

All I am saying is stop bitching and moaning about Santana. Would the Yankees be much better right now if we had Santana instead of CC, nope.

No, but greedy Yankee fans want ALL the talent out there.

    Sabathia
    Santana
    Burnett
    Joba
    Hughes

    Give me a break.

Actually,i think what was said is that the Yankees had a chance to get Santana by giving up Hughes. You should be a fan of a team that has done shit before you come in here preaching.

Pay attention. I know floridians arent too bright(except for GM of course). There would be no Hughes If the Yankees had Santana. And furthermore, its not greed. Im citing the stupididty of not making a deal for Santana for HUghes, Kennedy and Melky. If Im the GM of the Yankees and Minny offers me that deal I should say"no thanks, its a really great deal for the Yankees, but I dont want to be greedy"?

Then you're dumber than I thought.

How was Jon Lester for the Sox at age 22? (Inconsistent and shitty.) How was Johan Santana at that age? (In the bullpen and posting a 4.76 ERA.) Or maybe you'd care to look at Roy Halladay's age 23 season, where he put up a 10.64 ERA.

Really, guys. If you want to be pissed about him pitching a shitty game, go right ahead. I'm there with you.

But if you're going to definitively write him off as a bust, then you're dumber than rocks, and I will take all of your future opinions about baseball accordingly.

I don't know how Yankee fans can seriously bitch about the Yankees having the "win now" approach and asking where their young talent is on one night... and the following night be bitching about how thier young talent isn't performing to the standards of the current stars that could have been purchased with said young talent.

Make up your fucking mind. Seriously.

Im still a big fan of the Yankees finally bringing up their own talent. I am also saying that Phil HUghes does not fit that description. I htnk he sucks. Sorry if you dont agree. And Im sorry if you think your opinion is better than everyone else's. However, I am in teh camp of "PHIL HUGHES SUCKS". Thats all. Doesnt really concern you if you dont want it to. And also, I think hes a fragile pussy and a mental pussy.

Who is the pitching coach in Scranton? Maybe he's the one they need to call up.

And I think anyone who is convinced of that regarding a 22-year-old prospect is fucking insane.

It's not about my opinion being "better" than anyone else's. It's about not overreacting like a teenage girl when things don't work out to perfection.

Sorry, dude, but Hughes isn't going to put up a 2.90 ERA at age 22, and shame on you if you thought he was. I do think he'll put up a solid ERA in the big leagues (this year, and beyond) given the chance. He'll also have games that resemble tonight's game (which I think was hurt as much by his defense as by his lack of command).

He looked terrible tonight. He was brought up too early and it has hurt his confidence. Anyone can see that. Also, he gets injured too much and probably won't be able to hold up an entire season. Yeah he is young, but people thought he could be an Ace on this team. Right now he is a terrible #5 starter. Thats not good.

It would be nice if we could get some consistency from this team. AJ looked good to start..then....Hughes shows some signs, then he suck ass. Same with the offense. its either we score a bunch and kill someone,or we lose. We rarely ever win the 2-1 games. It's gotta be the coaching. I was all for Torre leaving and getting Joe,but maybe he isn't any good. Pitching and batting coaches suck? Just WTF? IMO,with the players we have,we should be in 1st without a doubt, except for the bullpen. That SHOULD be our only weak spot.
