why do announcers, in this case Kay, make such a big deal about a manager "asking his closer to get 5 outs"?. Stop with that shit already. Oh my God, 5 outs!

Well, in this case, at least, Papelbon pretty much sucks at it.

Yeah, but his shoulder is fragile, despite the best efforts of Boston's super secret shoulder strengthening program.

Holy shit, the movement on his fastball is ridiculous.

I don't know if YES does it, but NESN put their camera directly behind the plate this year, and it makes a HUGE difference. You can see pitch location and movement about 100 times better than with it off center.

Dude, 2006 called, they want their scouting report back. His shoulder hasn't been an issue for 2 years.

why cant Molina lose 20lbs? seriously. I know hes a great defensive catcher. But could he possibly be a better player if he lost some fucking weight? Whats up with fat baseball players?

This game will probably not go into extra innings, and yet it's going to end after 12:45 AM EDT. Not a bad night for this, because there's Rockets-Lakers NBA playoffs to switch to during breaks.

They protect it to keep it from BECOMING an issue. They save him for the playoffs, then he goes just about every game. I don't see a problem with that.

As for your sarcastic remark earlier though, the Red Sox organization has developed a reputation for taking excellent care of arms, especially shoulders. Both Smoltz and Penny cited it as reasons they were compelled to come to Boston. I'm not sure what they do that's any different, but they're doing something apparently.

I've been confused for about 1.5-2 years now as to why Edwar Ramirez is in the majors... it truly baffles me
