Holy shit, the movement on his fastball is ridiculous. I don't know if YES does it, but NESN put their camera directly behind the plate this year, and it makes a HUGE difference. You can see pitch location and movement about 100 times better than with it off center.

They protect it to keep it from BECOMING an issue. They save him for the playoffs, then he goes just about every game. I don't see a problem with that. As for your sarcastic remark earlier though, the Red Sox organization has developed a reputation for taking excellent care of arms, especially shoulders. Both Smoltz and Penny cited it as reasons they were compelled to come to Boston. I'm not sure what they do that's any different, but they're doing something apparently.
