Erik who? Ainge returns to Jets April 29, 2009 Erik Ainge is back. Did anyone know he was missing? The second-year quarterback, who missed a big chunk of the off-season program because of a mysterious "personal" reason (Rex Ryan's word), returned a couple of days ago, according to the Jets. Do you think his return is tied to the fact that the Jets drafted a QB in the first round (some guy named Sanchez) and signed a rookie free agent (Harvard's Chris Pizzotti)? I'm just throwing that out there. In case you're wondering, Ainge isn't allowed to participate in this weekend's rookie minicamp - only rooks and first-year players. The camp begins Friday, with two practices and two more on Saturday - all open to the media. I don't know how my colleagues feel, but on Friday, my first priority is to rip the lid off the Matthew Slauson life story. What, is there a better story in camp? Cimini is an Idiot. They were all over his ass when he got in trouble now it's, "Did anyone know he was missing?" Then he says "Ainge isn't allowed to participate in this weekend's rookie minicamp - only rooks and first-year players." So WTF are you mentioning him for!? KMA.. I actually like Ainge. Needs some fundamental work but he's servicable.
I like having Ainge on roster. He's not a guy with a big arm, but he's a smart kid with great touch on his passes who could turn out to be a long term quality backup in this league. Cimini is a pretty good analyst, but often he comes off as a bitter, bitter man. -X-
"Hi Erik, we've made a few changes while you were gone. Your locker is now down that way, end of the hall, around the corner, out the door."
Let's be honest, the only reason he's still on the roster is because of his last name. Danny must really be begging the Jets to just keep him buried on the depth chart somewhere. He was downright putrid at Tenn after coming in with big time acclaim. Also not sure if anyone realized but Clemens and Ainge are both from Oregon. Maybe a first to have 2 NFL QB's from Oregon on 1 team. That's my useless stat of the day
"Putrid" is not the right word, methinks. Throwing 31 TDs while getting sacked only three times during the entire school year is not how you spell "putrid."
"The second-year quarterback, who missed a big chunk of the off-season program because of a mysterious "personal" reason (Rex Ryan's word), returned a couple of days ago, according to the Jets." A three day mini camp is not a "big chunk". And since Sanchez wasn't there either I assume people are going to freak out about that too. /sarc
People are so lazy when reporting, so quick to get down on people just for a story his father Danny ainge was in the hospital for a stroke or heart attack dont remember which but yea id say thats a great reason to miss a 3 day minicamp that isnt even mandatory.....
it was his uncle , the GM of the boston celtics , and it was about 10 days ago ,long AFTER the minicamp...
What in the world is a Pizzoti? I think I saw that on the Pizza Hut menu. Bottom line here: enjoy watching these two in the pre-season games. It will be the only time you see either without a clipboard for the rest of the year.
