For those of you who don't know, although they recently became a part of Fox Sports Radio, PMS is a daily sports talk radio show out here in LA. Petros Papadakis is a former Trojan RB, and the guy loves Mark Sanchez. Both of them do. As a result, Mark has been on the show several times leading up to the draft. Last week, he expressed a strong desire to play for the Jets on the show. Today, he was back, and reiterated just how much he wanted to be a Jet.

Now, it struck me again just how rare that is for us. It wasn't just that he was happy to be drafted. Out of all the teams that could have taken him, he WANTED to play for us. He was asked how he felt about the chance that we'd trade up for him. He responded that he felt it was a longshot. He didn't think we stood much chance of doing it, so he started talking himself out of liking us too much because he didn't want to be disappointed. He wanted to be sure he was happy on draft day, and didn't want to be upset that he wasn't coming to New York. When we traded up, you could see how ecstatic he was.

Now, I can confirm (secondhand, of course) that we were in fact his top choice. How great is that? When can you remember a top QB coming out and saying "Man, I love the Jets. That's EXACTLY who I want to be playing for." Usually, we get snide comments from the likes of Peyton Manning about our #1 draft choice being an added bonus to staying in school.

This kid fell in love with this team, this team fell in love with him, and we're going to reap the benefits.

    Listen to the interview here:

P.S. He specifically mentioned "Mr. Tannenbaum" and "Mr. Ryan" as being big reasons for wanting to be here, as well as Coach Schottenheimer. He said the transition to our offense will be smooth. Different terminology, but a lot of the same ideas. He's hungry. I love this pick more and more each day.

thats what i love the most about him, is that he wanted to be a jet. i dont remember ever seeing someone more excited about being picked then he was. he seems to have so much energy and a true love for new york, if he can carry that onto the field we have ourselves one hell of a QB

I love Petros and Money best show on the radio today.... You could see it when he was drafted. It wasn't the usual I'm happy I was drafted...this kid creamed his pants when he heard his name and New York Jets. He realizes what a great oppurtunity this kid has ahead of him if he is succesful.

Yep. Fully intentional. They're not what you'd call a strict sports talk radio show. They talk about all kinds of weird shit, too. They definitely push the envelope of what's appropriate for a rush hour radio show. They have film fights and other segments like Lance Romance, which until the show went national was also known as Latino Love Line. Petros pretends to be the world's greatest lover, Lance Romance, and gives out sex advice to callers. Again, until the expansion, it was mostly hispanic dudes calling in to find out how to get their girlfriends to do anal.

Nope. He's right. This would be Petros.

Also, FTR, Petros hates Matt Leinart with a passion and predicted his NFL failure until he grows up. Says he destroyed some SC tradition and a lot of other USC alums feel the same way. He was never focused on football. Always just wanted to be a celebrity. He was right about Matt, and says Sanchez will be a stud.

I always liked Petros from Pros v. Joes. Awful NCAA football announcer though

It's the voice. He becomes much more tolerable once you've heard the show. My wife couldn't stand him at first, but now even she'll flip it on.

PMS is great. Petros is hilarious. If you don't like him, you have no sense of humor. Im so happy to have a South OC guy playing for Jets. Sanchez played a year after I graduated but I watched him torch my old high school multiple times (I played in San Clemente). Guy is stud and couldnt be more down to earth....

I cannot remember ever seeing a player being this excited about joining a specific team in my life. His emotion about being drafted by the Jets is one of the reasons I love this pick now. Typically, you see guys just talking about how happy they are about going high in the draft but to hear someone say that they wanted to be a part of the New York Jets is seriously a great feeling.

holy fuckin christ these guys are typical retarded hosts. In the middle of Sanchez saying something, one of the dopes just bellows out a laugh. these guys are fucking clown shoes.

Sanchez opens the interview in an awesome way.

"we had the hat in the room" -- he may have been told by the Jets to have a draft hat ready just in case... but still, he had a draft hat of the Jets in his house. He didn't have 32 hats.. he might have had 4. we were one of them. pretty, pretty cool.

Sanchez does a good NY impression. I LOLed.

the motorcycle story is awesome... this kid is so comfortable wherever he goes. I defy someone to genuinely dislike this person.

Their stadium look awesome from the 5.... must have been fun playing ball in OC with all those players that go onto play D1. Can't complain about where I played either as we had a few D1 guys and I even played against a Heisman winner in Ron Dayne and former NY Jet FB Darrien Barnes was my teammate.

San Clemente is favorite town in OC... Always said if I was some stud with a boatload of cash it'd be near the beach in San Clemente. Quite honestly though I'd love to build the house overlooking the San Onefre boobs... wake up every morning and get a look at those bad boys.

BTW Lance Romance is quite possibly the funniest bit of any segmnet done by any radio hosts in the country. Their show is pure gold and absolutely brilliant.

It's a pretty nice stadium. Can't say I ever got to play there, but I saw a San Clemente/Mission Viejo game there a few years ago. Those schools have been in the same league since I can remember, although the league keeps shifting.

Santa Margarita is definitely in a more powerhouse league now. Used to be Newport Harbor, CdM, Woodbridge, Irvine, and El Toro. Now it's J. Serra, Orange Lutheran, Servite, Bosco, and Mater Dei. Bit tougher, to say the least, although we did have a Heisman trophy winner. Another USC QB. The other good one

I have no doubt that Sanchez has both the personality and physical ability to be a franchise quarterback for us. That infectious enthusiasm he brings will hopefully bring the kind of excitement and passion to our offense that Rex/Bart Scott are going to bring to our defense.

I'm not going to set my expectations TOO high this season, as our quarterback situation is still a work in-progress, but I am very happy with this year's draft. Is it possible that Sanchez is going to have an outstanding rookie year? very... but I think the chance is much higher that he is going to be here a long time, and hopefully making us fans very happy.

I saw Santa Margarita play in 04 but I don't remember if Sanchez was the QB then, I know he was there Frosh and Soph year but he may have transferred by then. I guess he would have been a Sophomore in 2004 but I don't recall if he played. I was busy checking out the nice rich underage tail. My bud used to live near the Tilly's and the Lake up there.

The playoffs in Cal are amazing as you could go to almost any game and pick out 5 guys that are either going to SC, UCLA, Oregon, ASU or Cal. Just amazing..... There are very few kids like that in Vegas but they all seem to be at one school (the lone Catholic School) and Oklahoma seems to have a lock on all of them.

I used to find Petros so annoying. He actually has grown on me though. He backs up his loud obnoxious style with hard facts so I'm cool with his delivery.

What I find almost impossible to believe is that he was a tailback at USC. And he actually played and scored 16 TD's. Then I remembered that was pre-Carroll USC in the late 90's when they were absolutely awful.
