The problem now, though, is that you don't have Pena (and his glove) at third base for the last three innings. You have Berroa, who is not a third baseman. Not good. I would've given Pena a chance there.
I mostly agree with you. Honestly, I'd have pinched Jorge for Molina in the first place. You should never waste your only catching option on a single PH situation unless it's the ninth. We'll just have to cross our fingers with Berroa. ---------- Man, Teixeira is really struggling.
Haha, this is just silly now. Hughes has to be done for the night at this point, right? It's cold and he's been on the bench for quite a while now.
I'd probably go batter by batter, assuming Hughes hasn't tightened up too much. Maybe he has a four pitch inning or something. I don't think it's too big of a deal either way, right now. Another fifteen minutes (or another run or two), though, and I'm leaning toward going to the pen.
one thing that I really liked about this inning. In the beginning of it, Hughes was extremely pumped up in the dugout running/jumping around when the Yanks were trying to push across the first couple runs. He cares, he wants to win, he could be what this team needs
Okay, so can we please remember this game as a close game where the Yankees DID come up with big hits, instead of remembering it as a blowout with meaningless runs? Please?
I have no problem with that. And it came against a first-place team, which is bonus points. You will recall I complimented Girardi on good decision-making as well. This is the type of game I expect from the Yankees.
