I liked our draft, but right now it looks like we're starting Marques Douglas or Mike DeVito at DE.. is there a better option out there?

Marques Douglas is Rex Ryans version of Kenyon Coleman, I don't think it is much of a downgrade.

I don't think there is... but all in all I think it's a good option.. M. Douglas knows the system and isn't much of a knockdown from K. Coleman... and it will be DeVito's year to prove he's worth something... so that's good :).
If Jean-Francois goes undrafted I'm all for bringing him in!

I think his plan is to dress us in Ravens uniforms and pretend we are the Ravens.

Douglas was an undrafted free agent. Hopefully we can get free agent DE's in for depth that we can groom to eventually start. I think Douglas is fine to start this year, though. He started 2 playoff games for the Ravens, so Rex must trust him.

Something tells me we're gonna see a lot of Gholston lining up with his hands in the dirt at DE.

Douglas is an upgrade over Coleman. Just sign a veteran for depth, there'll be someone available between now and training camp.

I knew he was one of Rex's guys- didn't think he'd come in as a starter though. I really thought we were going to draft someone or bring in a veteran starter, but I'm sure Rex knows best.

We're not gonna run a traditional 3-4 and I'm gonna say that we line up with 4 down linemen almost as much as 3. Bryan Thomas and Calvin Pace can serve as DE's in the right package(s)

    DE's:
    Shaun Ellis
    Marques Douglas
    Mike DeVito
    Kareem Brown

    DT's
    Kris Jenkins
    Sione Pouha
    Howard Green
    Ropati Pitoitua (maybe)

Maybe depth along the D-line isn't as bad a situation as some here are making it out to be.

Who knows, maybe sucko Vernon could actually contribute...I don't know how playing a hybrid defense, like the one Ryan ran in Balt for years, and won a SB with could have "fail written all over it"...

Maybe. Gladys would be on the smaller side for a DE and Rex hasn't said or implied anything yet, but since we have Gladys, Thomas and Pace all slotted at OLB, switching one to DE might make sense.

Douglas might be an upgrade or equal to Kenyon Coleman but Coleman wasnt anything to write home about. Hopefully Douglas can do a better job. I really would have liked to see them come away with a DE in one of the first two rounds but the Sanchez move changed that.

They could sign some undrafted FA's and maybe bring in a couple vets that get cut by other teams. You could also see Gholston lining up at DE from time to time this season.

The only reason some of these guys are considered average or dont flat out suck is Kris Jenkins.

I'm pretty sure Ryan plans on coaching up Gholston and if anybody is going to get something out of him, Ryan is the man.

Why are people quitting on Gholston already? This immediate gratification crap needs to stop.
