Ratliff will start for Cleveland before Sanchez starts for the Jets. An unnecessary move made for all the wrong reasons (Buy your Jets Sanchez Jersey today on jets.com!). Jets team still has many holes and a paucity of draft picks to fill them. Now, even fewer. As for the guaranteed millions for an unproven rookie, don't worry about it hurting the Jets finances--you and I will be paying the salary.
Ouchy, Elam was not going to start, that's why we signed leonhard. Ratliff was not going to start, if the fo thought ratliff was going to be a good qb in this league they would not have had their eyes on a qb in the draft. Coleman was an over priced, average at best de. This was a great move for us and we basically only had to give up our second round pick to get the guy that we want. People nagging about us not getting a wr, who was going to throw him the ball? I know a lot of people think clemens deserves a chance, but the fo going for a qb should tell you that they feel clemens is not the answer. 40 fucking years jet fans have been in need to get that franchise qb who could lead this team to win another championship. 40 years of bitching and moaning about what the team needs and never has the balls to go get their guy. Well ladies and gents this team did what they needed to do to get their guy and they didn't mortage their future to do it. Any player could be a bust in the draft at any position. Taking a chance on a guy the team felt could be the field general of this team is a chance worth taking. Some on you need to stop being scared and get behind this team 100 percent like a true fan. Great move by the jets today.
Ya we got the better deal if Sanchez ends up being a superstar. But ATM they still got the better deal. We are gambling on a pick. They got depth they were looking for with proven players that the coach is familier with. And they still got the 17th pick overall and our 2nd. They cant lose on this deal - we can. Its not rocket science.
The more I learn about Sanchez the more I agree that Ratliff will start before he does. Sanchez wont be even close to ready to start this season. If he does it will be deer in the headlights.
They didn't get depth, they got stopgap starters to help implement a new defensive system and a developmental QB who can serve as a backup if they are able to swing a deal for one of their two QBs. You don't think they're still trying to move either Quinn or Anderson? Bringing Ratliff in as the backup tells me they're trying to do exactly that.
How you could be against this trade is absolutely, positively beyond me. The Jets gave up three players who probably don't belong in the NFL, a second round selection in a draft replete with question marks, and their original first round pick. To move up twelve spots in the draft, that is peanuts. The only player actually involved in the trade that may make the Jets regret making it is Ratliff. For those of you keeping score, Ratliff has yet to start an NFL game. He just as much of an unknown as Sanchez, but the Jets were obviously familiar with his potential and chose to part with him. Everyone has hashed out what can happen if the Jets got it wrong. The flipside of this, though, is that the Jets just traded for the best quarterback in franchise history. If you watched Sanchez at USC, you probably picked up the following: --He is deadly accurate with all throws. --He possesses good arm strength and zip. --He is a leader. --He is mobile and functions well outside the pocket. --He has a high football IQ. I am very excited to see him don the green and white, and I think that being pessimistic about this move deprives you of the adrenaline rush you should be feeling when you think about Sanchez being a field general for the next decade. You can look up my post history and see that I did not like the Gholston pick when it was made. The Sanchez pick, though, has me amped. I, for one, am looking forward to seeing him take the field.
Ok, you have Derek Anderson AND Brady Quinn to compete with if you are Ratliff..... Sanchez has Ainge and Clemens. Anderson isn't BAD, he's better than Clemens and Ainge.....so where does that put Sanchez? Is Derek Anderson better than Mark Sanchez? If so, you better let Tanny know so we can trade QBs. Ouchy, you are yet another person who has no idea what they are talking about. Makes two thus far here.
Not for long. I guarantee the Browns are still trying to move one of them. Mangini wants Ratliff as his backup. He'll try to swing one of his two QBs for picks, either in this year's draft or next.
I'm not too sure on that yet, we'll see what pans out. Maybe package one of them with Edwards... Still, point is Anderson is better than Quinn and Quinn is better than Ratliff. Sanchez is right now...better than Anderson, so this trade made perfect sense.
lol You are saying its OK to get an unknown player because what we gave up was an unknown player? Mangini is a lot more familier with Ratliff then Rex and Mangini went out and got him. I would consider that a good sign for Ratliff. Should we list his weakness as well?
I'd hardly call Ratliff a complete unknown at this point. Our team has seen what he can do, and we obviously didn't feel confident enough in him to hand him the starting job over Sanchez. Are you going to tell me that his offensive coordinator didn't know something about him? Mangini also had a bonafide starter in place in Cleveland. He didn't bring Ratliff in to compete for the position. He brought him in as a backup. Please do.
Say what you will, but you in the majority here. Sanchez is the answer. When you realize this and buy his jersey, think of me who told you so. Do you want three average players, Maclin and a 2nd rounder or do you want a Franchise QB who can lead your team for the next decade? You might be one of those guys who takes a while to get it, I understand, I wasn't sold on Keller for a while, but, now I like him alot.
I wasn't around to see him. I hope it's not blasphemy to point out that a quarterback with a good 6-8 year stretch can eclipse a lot of his numbers. I understand he meant a lot more that, but I wasn't alive to put him in context. And as for Sanchez's weaknesses, you can pick apart his deep ball and his inexperience if you put them under a microscope, but really, in my amateur opinion, I didn't see a glaring weakness that could doom his NFL career. The weaknesses of guys like Alex Smith, Vince Young, and other famous busts were plain as day before they ever played a professional game. As far as I know and as far as I can tell, Sanchez doesn't possess a damning weakness.
