Ok guys step back from the hype for one second and realize the HUGE RISK the jets have just taken. They took an underclassmen qb with 16 starts, from a team with MUCH superior talent around him no less.
Remember last year when we traded for Brett Favre and everyone was ecstatic and some people were like WTF why? This is like that times 10 yeah its a great if we hit and get a franchise qb were in good position but honestly if we just missed we are SO SCREWED

Qbs are like 50/50 busts if not worse so idk maybe the jets know something we dont, or maybe they saw a way to sell the PSL's and in the end isnt that what its all about?

We traded up to the number 5 spot to get him. Stafford just got 41.5 million guaranteed, Sanchez is looking at what? 37 38 million guaranteed.

Didnt we just get burned giving an unproven guy alot of money guaranteed?
Hindsight is 20/20 and i know that but there was alot of talent at wr, and i guarantee if we stayed at 17 and got maclin everyone here would be ecstatic with the pick.

What happened to giving kellen a chance, dont give me that there going to give Kellen a fair shot with Sanchez making 38 mil on the bench.

All in all, i feel that taking a wr at 17 and then either a de or olineman at 52 would have been a much better fit, If Kellen sucked we could have got the qb next year.

I know im going to get flamed but honestly step back and look at the Gamble Tanny just took with our Jets

By your logic we shouldn't take a QB in the draft ever because he might not be good?

i took a step back.....and I still see this as the best move Tanny could've made for this franchise....and I applaud him for pulling the trigger on it.

We finally have a kid that this franchise can build around......and people on this board continue to whine and cry about it..........hysterical.

    i completely agree with you.

this kid is over rated, we lost out on filling needs and now have other needs to fill. this move can and probably will hamstring the jets for the next 5 years. on top of gholston this could be a very very very ugly number of years coming.

i thought this could never happen, we couldnt be stupid enough. but we went and did it and i am shocked and disgusted.

we could have had maclin and mccoy and saved a shit ton of money.

i knew we were screwed when i heard manenbaum say that he and ryan and woody were going to make the decision.

Apparently we didn't need a Quarterback.

no we just shouldnt mortgage the franchise for such a huge risk

If we waited till next year and Kellen clearly wasnt the answer, we would have a team assembled around a young qb ready to excel. Right now we have a guy that is a good 2 but no more and a few young guys that you definitely cant bank on to be anything close to a number 1.

Plus we have a line that has two spots that will be need to replaced by 2-3 years although we can get some depth in the later rounds

what exactly has he done other than not lead usc to a title? he had a team that had the best talent in the entire country and didnt win. he had rbs that were head and shoulders above all the competition, he had an ol that was head and shoulders above any others. and he had receivers that were better than all but maybe 2 dbs that covered them last year.

and he still didnt fucking win. just because he had a nice game against an over matched penn state team doesnt make him joe montana.

Last year we took Gholston & so far he has not worked out. What are we going to never take a chance again? The front office thinks he is a franchise QB & I do to if Kellen was so good 1 of these last 3 years he would have beat out Chad.

Trading a 2nd rounder and 3 fringe starters isn't exactly mortgaging the franchise.

    ding

and i said needS not need, needSSSSS. we now really need a de, we really need a te, we really need a wr, we really need another wr, we really need a dt, we really need a rb if as everyone says our current one should be cut and is getting old.

i would much rather have filled 2 needs and spent a bit of money than maybe possibly filling one, that if we fuck it up will be a huge issue for time to come. its a HUGE risk.

He didnt win he lost 1 game in 16 starts. What are you talking about? His O line was all under classmen & if his RB'S & WR'S were so good why did not 1 of them declare for the draft this year?

    Here we go a-fucking-gain --

We traded a second round pick, a third string quarterback, a backup safety, and a rotational defensive end for a potential FRANCHISE quarterback.

Hell of a move by Tanny.

+ 1 Elam & Ratliff back ups. Coleman might not even start his pass rush is zero.
