http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=4100383&categoryid=2378529 ESPN's NFL analysts look at why the Jets traded up to draft QB Mark Sanchez Love the quote by Dilfer: " can throw on the run/bootleg better than 90% of QB's in the league right now"
Dwayne Jarrett, Mike Williams, Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart............... Don't get excited about a heralded top 10 USC player.....Remember, they actually test for roids in the NFL.
I think Mark Sanchez will bring in a lot of Mexican fans...this could economically be very, very good for this team.
Oldies but goodies. But out of the recent crop, aka Pete Caroll players, they are all overrated busts. I like the trade, and I think Sanchez is the best QB in this draft. I also think this was a horrid crop of QBs and that USC produces the highest rate of top 10 busts in the last decade.
Marcus Allen, Bruce Matthews, OJ Simpson, Anthony Munoz, Ronnie Lott, Ron Yary were all top 10 picks out of USC and are all in the Hall Of Fame...... Keith Rivers was doing very good despite being a top 10 pick out of USC(Until the cheap shot by Ward)......Carson Palmer isnt too bad of a QB despite the bad luck surrounding him............... And if we dont include just strictly top 10 USC drafteees, Troy Polamalu, Lofa Tutupu and Lynn Swann werent or arent that bad...... And this is coming from a Fighting Irish fan too...................
And just like once upon a time Notre Dame was good, once upon a time guys like OJ Simpson came out of USC. But in the Pete Carroll era, they have been a joke of overrated talent.
Sedrick Ellis, Matt Cassell, Sam Baker, Deuce Lutui, Lofa Tutupu, Keith Rivers, Troy Polamalu, Lendale White(Although somewhat inconsistent), Carson Palmer have all contributed in the NFL in their young or current careers.
And if we drafted Mark Sanchez at 17, I'd say cool. But all of the top 10 players they have are busts, especially the recent ones. Not to mention that Cassell will be a complete joke next year outside of NE, and like I said the recent crop aka Reggie, Matt, Dwayne, etc etc etc are a joke and overrated.
Yes, its obvious that the best way to evaluate players is by looking at completly different playres and commign ot a snap decision. Good job with that! For some reason i'll take the word of every NFL analyst over random poster named "MyPutzyRod"
he will bring a HUGE contract that will hamstring the team for the next 5 years if he is not all he is cracked up to be. he also will not be bringing jeremy maclin nore will he be bringing lesean mccoy. i would take the eagles draft over ours ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. this is a terrible move and will make the robertson trade look like a steal. i dont wanna hear about we didnt give up anything. we have put all of our chips in 1 basket and its a completely over rated basket.
I think when you are evaluating him and having boners over his college career, it is foolish, b/c more often then not when kids come from programs who have a recent tradition of having "unbelievable college teams" and yet all their kids turn to pro busts, there is a legit reason for the pattern. Therefore, I discount anything about Sanchez b/c I think he looks a lot better than he actually is, like many of his recent counterparts.
Yeah, much more than winning games would be. I am not saying he won't win games, or that he will be a bad QB. There is a reason he couldn't beat out Booty though. That in it's own is what scares the Hell out of me.
