Too the fire!!!!! Let him learn with tough love like a real man. Why wait until we have a lost season?
This sounds like the right scenario for the Jets to wind up with a back-up QB to replace Clemens. People who keep talking about Clemens as a possible starting Jets QB don't realize that there is a huge possibility that he is no longer a Jet come the start of the season.
Actually, he had it sacked out of him. Flacco and Ryan are not the norm for rookie QB's. Sanchez needs to learn the pro game first. Let him sit. We're not SB ready just yet anyway.
The Jets have a lot of former pro-bowlers that are moving up in years. Next season, there will be more holes to fill. That said, the Jets need to think Super Bowl this year. It may not be the greatest thing to bring in a rookie as your starter, but this team was built for someone like Sanchez -- an exceptional defense, a great offensive line, an exceptional running game. And Sanchez has the skills and has a good head about him. I think he'll do fine as a starter. No one else out there is available, IMO, to bring into the Jets as a starter. It's Sanchez's job to lose.
Sanchez is certainly in a better position than David Carr was coming into the league. I agree that our team is getting older in football-years as well. SB thinking for '09? With our schedule? I don't think that's realistic even if it might be the best approach. Playing Sanchez behind THIS Oline is certainly an advantage. However, without the outside talent to throw to, teams will challenge Markie no doubt about it. They'll stack 8 and dare him to throw downfield. Especially in the cold, windy meadowlands. He's a SoCal boy too. Something to consider especially in November and December.
in spite of Flacco's success last year - he was scheduled to sit the bench. It's only because of injuries he saw time. I say we let Sanchez compete for the position. He shouldn't be able to beat Clemens - and if he does - well then so be it.
