we needed one QB who knows the system and is, for lack of a better term, "ready to go."

    Sanchez is sitting this year.

If we gave up KC we would have 3 QBs on our roster that have combined for zero NFL snaps. Do people not realize how monumentally stupid that would be?

I am sure it was our decision to keep KC.

I'm actually shocked that Mangini didn't take Clemens either. I don't know what the deal is since alot went on behind the scenes definetly. Best scenario for Clemens is that he starts this season and plays well. He knows his time in NY is drawing to a close unless he's happy being a backup QB.

Oh yeah, I read something someplace about Oregon QB's not making the grade in the NFL. I wonder if Clemens will be another Duck QB without a job in the Pros..

I bet Tannenbaum did say no to including Clemens in the deal

That's the way I see it. With Sanchez and Clemens on the roster, I'm positive we have our franchise QB. Now we have a year to figure out which one is it.

Well, Dan Fouts and Chris Miller were pretty good. Their recent three early round guys didn't pan out, though (Smith, Harrington, Clemens).

Oh sorry. I totally agree with what you said. They need Clemens to start this year. Anyone else get the feeling we are in for Brees 2.0?

Sorry, Brad. Are you agreeing with me? I can't tell.

He will be a RFA next year. I do not see him being cut in any scenario. He IS our veteran QB. Whether that is as a starter or backup will be decided in camp.

Either TE or RB at 17 for the Browns.

I think he probably is better regarded in other quarters around the league than he is by the Jet's brain trust. You get a certain number of opportunities to step up and grab the reins and aside from the 2007 camp, which Mangini screwed up, Clemens has not made a lot of his opportunities so far.

I think if Sanchez is good to go this year, which is probably a 60/40 thing, then Clemens will get to go the RFA route and leave. The Jets will find another, probably veteran, QB to backup Sanchez in that scenario.

If Sanchez is not ready yet then Clemens starts most of next season and probably gets traded in 2010 if he is good next year (a la Brees-Rivers) or allowed to go RFA if he's mediocre.

I don't see scenarios in which Clemens is the NY Jets QB moving forward at this point or even on the roster for very long past next season. A team either has one QB or it has no QB. Two QB's just does not work.

Bill Musgrave, Tony Graziani, Akili Smith, Joey Harrington..... on the bright side Dennis Dixon got a SB ring without ever seeing the field with the Steelers last year....

Actually the thought crossed my mind but my bet is the Jets weren't going to move KC without getting a guy who has played before in return.

You can be glad they kept him, but when the season starts, don't be surprised if he is not on the Jets roster.

Expect Clemens to ask to be traded or for a release from the Jets. The latter is the probability.

The Jets will sign a veteran QB, and Clemens will be left as a 3rd string, which of course Kellen will not accept. He will probably be gone, unless the Jets don't care about his feelings :p

We're not going to release him; that would be retarded.

Sanchez and Clemens have the same agent. Make Clemens a third string, and you will see the agent have a fit. I don't think the Jets will want to have an unhappy agent for their new franchise QB, and I don't think the Jets are so cruel as to make Clemens a third string. The Jets gave Chad his walking papers. I think they'll do the same for Kellen.

They might be that cruel but they're not that idiotic. Seriously, third string? He's either second or first or we trade him and he'll be a first or second string somewhere else.

    That is a terrrible rationale.

They gave Chad his walking papers because they had less than 24 hours to get under the cap after picking up Burt.

Otherwise, you can believe they would have gotten value for him as well as steered him away from a division rival.

You may think it's a terrible rationalle and the guy before you might think I'm idiotic and a drug addict for suggesting that the Jets would release him, but I believe that's the scenario that is going to occur. I don't think the Jets trust Clemens enough to ever give him the ball again during the regular season. That is, unless he is 'lights out' during the pre-season, but I don't believe that's possible with him. You guys will see. He probably will not be on the team, unless the Jets are, like I say, cruel and force him to stay.
