ESPN is reporting there is a complex trade scenario being discussed which would end with Brady Quinn as the JetsNew York Jets quarterback. From ESPN Insider: According to ESPN's Sal Paolantonio, the Redskins will trade up to take Mark Sanchez at No. 4, then deal current quarterback Jason Campbell to another team -- the Minnesota Vikings, Tampa Bay Buccaneers or Jets -- for draft picks. If this trade does not happen, Paolantonio hears that the Browns, who have soured on Michael Crabtree, could take Sanchez at No. 5 and deal Brady Quinn. The same three teams would be in play for Quinn, with the Jets the most interested, according to Paolantonio's sources. I know a lot of stuff has been posted about quinn possibly being traded, but this I feel may be legit
As an Irish fan and a guy who's seen every game Quinn played in NCAAF, bring him in! His lone weakness is his inconsistent accuracy when throwing deep. Outside of that though, I see him as a pre injury Carson Palmer clone or at least that was the vibe I had gotten when watching him play. He has the size, the poise, the arm, and the ability to make things happen in the pocket to be a really jewel for whatever team he is on. Just IMO.
well my one hope would be if it does come to be, that its is a trade down for us. give them 17, and we get back #36 and either Quinn/edwards. I would rather have Edwards personally because if our guys dont pan out we would likely be in prime position for a top QB next year, whether that may be Clausen or Bradford.
Outside of that year, it is still Navy though every year(We played Air Force the 2nd time during Clausen freshman year but thats it with them). He has had good games for the most part vs many teams except maybe USC(ND got jipped in 06 but I will save that for another time). Both bowl games vs LSU and OSU he faced 2 elite defenses and didnt have much to work with on the offense(No current offensive weapons in the NFL besides Fasano and Carlson)......That and the ND Defense sucks which made both games become blowouts.
I think Brady Quinn could come in and compete for the job, and that fact that Mangini doesn't want him makes me believe that he is worth having, but only if we can get it done for a 2nd round pick or later, don't give up the 1st for another unproven qb.
For what the organization is looking for, I'm surprised they aren't more keen on Campbell. Starting experience, and he's the epitome of a game manager.
I'm just worried he's one of these QB's that lights it up against the shitty teams and chokes against the teams that you need to beat in the playoffs. Of course you need talent around you to win those games too.
As long as it's not for a number 1 pick, I think this is the best trade scenario I've heard of all of them that have been floating around the last few weeks. I gotta believe that between Quinn, Clemens and Ratliff, the odds are pretty good that one of 'em will be a solid QB, and they're all young so maybe we can sure up the position for years to come. But it's the offseason so I'm not fully in the Jetfan mindset yet. Wait till week 4 and I'll be sayin they all suck ass, haha. Can't wait for the first "Cut Quinn" thread, lol. Saturday can't come fast enough!
Or maybe the huge come from behind win against Michigan State...Or maybe the 80 yard march for a TD to go ahead of #1 USC (albeit they lost on the next drive). The guy has talent. He's just as unproven as our two though, that's why I don't get that move.
Let's see, so far we've had;Cutler, Quinn,Edwards,Freeman,Sanchez,Clemens,Ratliff,Favre,Campbell,Troy smith,Leftwich,Garcia, as our QB for 2009. Have i left anyone out?
"Compete for the job". Why trade for a QB that only has to compete for the job? If we are willing to deal draft picks for a guy, why not trade for a guy that will have an immediate impact? If he is only good enough to "compete", then he is not worth giving up the future.
he's the game manager Ryan would want, plus he's a gritty kid with a fantastic competitive streak. He'll handle the media well in NY and be extremely marketable. I just can't be a 1st round pick for him. 2nd, 6th, and a 5th next year.
